Colgan's still hiring for 2006

any info on colgan hiring this year, and how long does it take to get hired

thanks for all of your help

Yep...Colgan is interviewing and hiring for classes the rest of the year mainly in the Saab with preference to the Independence Guys if they want to but I don't think but a few will come over. Plans are for expansion in the Saabs on the United (IAD) and Continental (IAH/CLE) side.

To be considered, you must apply on-line at www.colganair.com and click on the Pilot application icon. If you know someone at Colgan, get them to walk your resume in for you in addition to the on-line stuff.

Just throwing this out to any Colgan folks in the know...

What is the chance a new hire FO could get based at HEF? I live near DCA but from what I hear there are not pilot bases at DCA or IAD, just at HEF, and that is the mx base only?

If based somewhere other than the DC area, would it be a nightmare to commute from where I am based to DCA?

Rumor around Manassas is that there are some jets available that will not need a paint job, satisfies the CAL 50 seat clause.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SHINY JETS...

no offence to you colgan guys but some how I doubt that Colgan has the mental and financial ability to ramp up a jet training program, and then find people (out side of your self) will to fly them for your slave wages.

Hello,
HEF is also a large SAAB crew base, and as you mentioned also a maint. base and corporate headquarters. I can't see a problem commuting into DCA or IAD if you are based somewhere else. It might not be a one-leg, but there are a lot of mainline/express flights into DCA and a few into IAD. You also have the jumpseat open on many carriers.
As the Godfather said, most of the hiring is in the SAAB and this is also where the growth is going to be as well. Beech hiring is only going to be for attrition/upgrade and transitions. There is probably going to be a new hire Beech class in the next few months, but it will probably be a small class. We are pretty well manned with Beech F/Os for the time being.
There was a memo posted last summer about CoEx wanting to outsource some turboprop flying (15-20 aircraft) in the northeast, and so far no further word on that. This latest development at CoEx could be an indication that some of those ERJs may be parked in lieu of turboprop bids. CoEx also expressed no desire to return to the turboprop market. Commutair might put in a bid on this flying, and possibly Regions. Colgan? who knows...I think that the turboprop is going to make a return to many markets in the northeast especially and I don't think that CJC wants to be on the outside looking in at a major part of that marketshare.
Please don't think that I feel anything "good" about the recent turn of events in the industry because it may benefit myself or my employer. Any pilots out on the street or airlines goingabnkrupt is BAD for everyone. But, the reality is that turboprops are cheaper all the way across the board and will have greater leverage in the marketplace than say 10 years ago when the RJ "revolution" began.

Not sure what CHIT---Taco is paying but i thought Colgan was highest paid..... That info comes from most guys fly the lawn darts.

I can care less about flying a jet vs. a prop. The pay is about the same anyway. I would rather get a dollar or two an hour less, and live at home than get an extra buck and have to live in some far away crash pad. I am interested in any airline that allows me to live near DCA. I don't have enough time to get on at Whisky now that they are recruiting all the FlyI guys so I think Colgan would be my best bet since HEF isn't that bad of a drive.
