They said would have to return to land and "oh yeah declare an emergency too".

Mentioned they had a light - Right engine jetpipe temp warning or something and would have to shut it down.

I was jumpseating and was kinda funny as the controller was trying to get them to tighten their turn. We were commenting on how great that advice was considering they were shutting an engine down.
 
i was right behind them in line for takeoff. it wasn't a dash, it was a saab. they had a "light" and then they had to "run some checklists" then i imagine they determined they didn't need to shut down the engine after all. Word was that it was a landing gear problem, it didn't wanna retract or something.
