Also heard there will be a couple bases in the end for the Q400, not just EWR...

Crew Bases
Current Scenario
As you know, unlike most regional airlines, we have historically had two types of bases. We have smaller bases in many cities where crew members start and finish their day at their home base. We also have, in Houston, a major base where a large percentage of crew members commute. We do expect the same scenario for Newark and the Q400. This has worked well in accommodating a crew members’ quality of life, as well as being cost effective for the Company. The crew member has had the choice to work out of a smaller base or work in a larger base where they would commute. Additionally, we have taken into consideration the requests of crew members when opening new bases, such as La Guardia. The Company has no plans to change our overall base policy, which are driven by operational needs and crew member requests.

We can not say whether our current base policies will remain in effect.

On thehub.usairways.com there was an article indicating that they are going to further reduce US airways operations in PIT resulting in PSA withdrawing all of its ground operations/customer service operations and the further reduction of air service. All of Colgan's routes were marked TBD or "to be determined". As i look in to my crystal ball of Colgan future I see a few plausible scenarios for crew members.

1) you show up in the morning and your flight release has phl or iad as a destination
2) you show up in the morning and there is no plane your base is closed!
3) They'll just fix the glitch and you will no longer be recieving paychecks

Heck yeah!

ITH is gonna close, also, look for any other base with one Saab to close in the next coming months. The deal with the Beech is anyone's guess, we were supposed to be down to 4, but one has been extended till December.....oh, and I heard that were gonna get 2 of Delta's B-737-200's to do the EWR-SAV route! (Because its too long of a route even for the Q400) :smash:

No outstation bases are closing. At least thats what chuck says. aha ha h aha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.. No more PIT? What are we going to do?

A few years ago the HTS Beech guys found out HTS was closing cause there was a thing on the 6 oclock news that said that direct air service to PIT was being ended at the end of the week. Some of the ITH Beech guys found out ITH was longer a Beech base after showing up to ITH and finding a Saab there and a call from scheduling saying oh man no one told you...ITH became a Saab base 3 days ago....

Anyways Colgan never has and never will care about opening or closing bases and they will do so at the drop of a hat usually with the crews (the ones affected most) finding out last.

What kind of benefits do displaced crews get at Colgan?

My point exactly.

A displaced Pinnacle pilot gets about $5000 in cash to cover per diem and hotel costs for the initial period that a pilot will be required to commute. Pinnacle must also pay for a "house hunting trip" so that the pilots can find new living accommodations. Once a new home is found Pinnacle must pay the expenses in physically moving the pilots primary residence plus the pilot also gets a week off of work to make the move.

I hope that once the base shuffle starts those who voted no, or didn't vote, get stuck with a three leg commute cause they can't afford to move.

What kind of benefits do displaced crews get at Colgan?

When I was there sometimes you got a phone call a few days before the base closed and you got asked which other base you wanted to go to. But you still wouldn't really get your choice some times. Besides that you got nothing. I know for a fact there is extra money thrown your way to break a lease or move, etc. And I don't remember getting any extra days off for the move.
