In case you haven't noticed maintenance is the major issue at ALL airlines, and not just Colgan. Maintenance requirements under FAR 121 create a very high fixed cost structure. Lastly, if you have any clue about what you are saying yo u will also realize that maintenance/engineering has been a major player in fatal mishaps at more than one "legacy/major" airline. ex: AA DC-10 ORD and AS MD-80 Ventura, CA are examples. In fact, American Airlines and their faulty QEC procedures did more to ruin McDonald Douglas Comercial Aircraft Division than Airbus Industrie did with their government subsidized pricing.
Look, I respect anyone that has a coherent opinion about this industry, but to sit there and make these asinine comments isn't proving a thing except your ignorance. Like I said in another thread Colgan isn't perfect, but we have alot of good people that do work hard to do a good job. Not everyone starts out in the airline industry with 10 years of air carrier maintenance epxerience. If an airplane is unairworthy it's up to the crew to say so. Worked for me in the Navy everytime and you might catch some grief for it, but so be it. And, likely you'll be praised for it later by making a good decision. You cannot as a PIC let emotions of the moment get in the way of making a sound decision based on the facts.
