Why does every thread here become an airline bashing thread after the topic gets tired?? Just a general question, not that I'm complaining, but it just seems to go that way on every thread. Every airline!!

I'm guessing you were part of the clump that paid for your job at Colgan and are hoping you don't lose your investment this soon.
No, I haven't heard about that program.

Fact is, I have an upcoming interview with Colgan and with Mesa. I'm trying to educate myself on both of these airlines using the internet. I have to rely on what I read since I have no firsthand experience, yet. I'm listening, please continue.

Well honestly from someone who has been in the Regionals, right now skywest or Expressjet is about the only smart choice. Everything else is just a nightmare to try and guess what will happen!

Good luck though

colgan sucks...run while you can!!!!!

chper...PM me w/ your new email adress...i have some sheeot you might beinterested in.

I guess it was only a matter of time before another Colgan thread hit the forum...Been under the RADAR for too long I guess. Guess we'll crawl back under a rock again and watch the usual bashers climb out from under theirs.

Canadairs???...Ha ha the contract does prohibit jets with over 44 seats. Thats why CHQ's flying the EMB135/40 for them out of STL. I don't think AA needs any more carriers out of STL! Nice try though.

islandboi,

i'd have to say the reason is too much time on my hands.need hobbies and other interests, plus each day it becomes much more apparent that this is more of a blue collar than a white collar job. much more money to be made outside of airlines and not worth time away from base especially if you have families. if you want fly jets for cheap and it doesn't matter then have at it.

50k or 60k now is like 25 to 30 in 1985. It was just gettng by then and it's getting by now.

flying for colgan after 9/11 was okay. it beat driving the buick. it's a small family owned business that will never have a strong enough balance sheet to buy jets without CJC pledging as collateral the company stock and his personal wealth. COLGAN WILL ALWAYS GET THE CRUMBS,NEVER THE SLICE.

Comparing Mesa to Colgan is like comparing a king air 350 to a 61 aztec.

Well, at least N32017 is going back, It is in for a # 1 thru # 6 detail, and Colgan Air has been removed fron the side.

How many times have the Cs been "going back" only to reappear a few weeks later??

If airplanes are going back, it's probably because the fleet is going to get smaller and smaller until...poof.. all gone.

Trust me,When the lettering comes off the side, It's going back. chperpit, you sound bitter, get some counsiling. All airlines have skeletons in their closets, As a mechanic for Colgan, I have found the company one of the better places to work, The people envolved with 240 are gone, We have some good dedicated mechs that care about safety working here, and I am getting tired of the A&P bashing, Our hands are tied in come areas(see managment skeletons comment above). If it is unsafe, I don't sign it off.

I'm not bitter buddy..although I can point you to a wife, daughter, fiance, and a few parents that are though.

Where do you see A&P bashing? The problem isn't, and hasn't been the quality of mechs. Although, it was pretty messed up what they did with 240 and lied about it. Where you there at the time?? I was.. in HYA.. so don't tell me I'm wrong.

If everything is so rosy now, why are you about to get slammed by the Feds for something that had nothing to do with 240? Why are pilots leaving by the droves?

Keep your resume up to date... You're going to need it soon.

Check your post #52, You paint the whole maintenance departmant with the same brush, And yes I was there, and Steve and Scott were good friends! The Feds were told exactly what went down, but did zero to the guilty party.Truthfuly you should talk to a profesional about your anger,I am not trying to start a war with any pilots here, just trying to do a difficult job,and respond to what I see as the perception that all mechanics at Colgan are incompetent.

I'm sorry you feel that you're being painted as incompetent. That fact is, the Feds were not told eveything... were they? I realize you're going to stick with your story, but I do know the truth. The truth will be made public during the law suit. If you were in HYA at the time, I guess we'll see each other in court.

If Scott and Steve were indeed friends, I would think you would be angry too.

By the way... Who do you think was the guilty party that came away clean in your words?

Oh.. and my post #52.. Was the trim not misrigged? How many steps were skipped? Was the elevator removed as per the procedure? How many phone calls were made to other mechanics venting about the problems that were going on with the airplane? I can go on and on...

The crew that worked on that airplane messed up big time.. that doesn't make them incompetent. I know what goes on when an airplane is in the hangar. I know who is truly responsible for the accident and the airplanes that are flying around ready to fall apart.

This has nothing to do with anger. If you can't understand that, then I truly feel sorry for you. Again, if Steve and Scott were you friends you should be angry.

You will not see me in court, because I did not put that airplane back together. I would be stupid to name names in this forum, that would be libelous. You will never know how pissed and angry I am over this, I cried at the funeral, and almost had a nervous breakdown over this.As far as "sticking to my story" I don't know what you are insinuating,But I hope your truth is the same as my knowlige or this crash, for the justice of the next of kin. Nuf Said!

Of course I don't want you to name names here...

It sounds as if you don't know the "real" and full truth. I'm sure I don't know the entire store, but I do know quite a bit. It's going to take a long time for this to get to court and it'll all come out then.

I still cry from time to time when I think about what happened to those guys...

Take Care

GEEEEEEEEEEEEZ, how this thread changed in a few days! Cherp - let it be, man! Re-ranting about CJC, a year after you're gone -- where does it get you? People Fuc'd up, unfortunately our friends died, nothing can be done, except in court.

I don't care to look back at posts I've done on CJC, but, honestly, I wouldn't have had a chance to move on without them. I wish them the best (not only at the buffet) as far as moving on after UAir goes down. Looks like the gov't will let UAir survive awhile longer. If the CO news is legit., that's good news. Lots of friends still there that I wouldn't want to see out of a job.

Like you said R, the industry is in the shi*ter, and who knows what the future brings -- let's hope it brings good paying jobs to those who deserve it!

what does colgan and buffets have in common. does colgans planes stall at a higher speed then usual?

Hey Guys

I'm back at Colgan. Yep the other gigs just didn't work out. BSkin, keep in touch..glad to see you pulling that a around. Colgan has been good to me and I know the SAAB was a different story, but, I never had a problem with their maintenance. Just the occasional phone call to a new captain that kinda upset me.

Keep it safe all.

Guys....

It'll all come out in the wash. If Airways tanks, Colgan will go back to eas in Maine and PA with 1900's. The Colgan's will do just fine, but the pilots better have a plan B in their pocket. Going to Colgan was the best thing for me at the time, and leaving there has worked out quite well because I'm in a much better situation.

Regarding Steve and Scott's family, from what I hear, they will be well taken care of, but that will not bring them back.

Chpr and Bskin, I hope that life is treating you well. Drop me a line sometime.

Some info: Just about anyone hired here prior to the PFT spree is a captain now, or could have been had they not quit. Many are working on there 2nd type in the saab. The PFT people are upgrading in both planes as well with around 2000 total time. Some can not upgrade yet because they are not old enough or do not meet ATP time requirements. Not saying people should have stayed, but we have had a lot of movement. A year ago people needed 1000 in type, and 2500 total to upgrade. It's much easier now. In some cases 500 in type is getting them an upgrade class. We are interviewing, upgrading, and transitioning people every month. Around 230 pilots on the list. A year ago the upgrade looked like it would be forever. This industry is so hard to predict.

It's official...Colgan got a five year contract with CO to fly as CO Connection out of Houston. They start in March gaining two SF3 a month to fly for them. They are staying with US in the north east until further notice.

Do you have the link for the press release?

No official press release...it was discussed on a special conference call this morning at the stations. I'm sure there will be an official release by Monday.
