Sorry... Can't take seats out. It's what the aircraft was certified for...

You can take seats out of the A model, why wouldn't you be able to do the same with the B model?

As far as FAR139 goes, taking seats out of an airplane will not allow it to avoid the less than 20 seat requirement for CFR.

I am not sure if they have the OK from whoever "FAA i guess" to pull out seats. They usually don't make plans like that without first consulting with me. Or a mid seniority FO. And i haven't heard anything yet. I don't see what the big mystery is..you would think it would just be either yes or no. 2 C models finally off the line? Or are they just sitting in albany as spares for when saabs or D models brake??? We should donate them to MTV for a new episode of pimp my ride. Pimp my C model. Host dude walks around the rig..camera zooms in on greasy finger prints on the engine cowling. Camera then is on that one dudes face as he makes goofy expressions. Gives a look that says "how pathetic". Then the camera moves inside...voice over says "is that krunk juice on the seats?" "this is the krunk, ya yeah yeeeeah" "oh yeah, we got a job for tyrone here" Unknown colgan pilot says...no bra, i think that's diahrea from an arse thrashing ride into altoona last summer" "Not krunk juice" "tyrone best replace those seat cushions all together." End of the show has the airplane with new paint, an off center stripe and jetblue like label on the nose...."CoCo SHannell~rides hard all nite long" Latrell Sprewell gave it FAA approved spinning rims for the mains, and nose gear. Airplane now features 2 flat screen plasma TV screens behind each crew members seats, and six others placed in locations where no person would ever see them. Jerome put in high speed internet that can be viewed on co pilots EHSI. Automatically opens up to aviation interviews dot com so crews can study guages for up comming interviews with coex and the like. Show ends with kid rock music...i wanna be a cowboy baby" C model #2 makes a later episode of Pimp my RIde. In this episode the caste delivers another one of those efforts in laziness where they just bring in a new vehicle that isn't even the same one they started with. They show before pictures of evil kenevil c model and then present the colgan crew with a pimped out jetstream 41, complete with wet bar.

Hello,
I flew 119CJ the at the end of last month and saw "Evil Knevil" in LGA the other day. However, last word I heard was the "last" day for the 1900C at Colgan is 01 March. Not heard any other rumors, but I'm out in the hills. It wouldn't surprise me if they went to another code-share, because mainline has been saying that Piedmont would be the only Express turboprop carrier with 60-70 DHC-8s.

As far as the C models go LVS is in HYA and LVC is in ALB as of today Colgan air no loner owns the lease for them it is the companys reponsibility to do Details 1-6 and anything else Beech requires. Once that is done Colgan pilots fly them to Wiley Post OK and that is it. LVD is scheduled to go off line the middle of February and can't be flown past march 1st unless TAWS is done and it won't be. As far as all the rumors go, its with Continental and the contract should be a go or no go by Wednesday or Thursday.

What do you mean "go or no go"?? Are they waiting for an approval from CO?? Or are they waiting for something to happen with US??

They are doing the negotions so it all depends on that and we stay usarie as well. You will get flight benifits with who ever you fly for no cross company flying...

So Colgan is gonna fly for both CO and US. How do they decide what stations fly for which airline?? Is that part of the negotiations??

So they're gonna start flying for CO on other routes not currently flown for US?! Also stay flying for US on the routes currently owned by Colgan?!

Yes basically we will still run our routes like we do for USAir the Colgan air routes which are all the EAS cities. Then we will run routes for CO in an entirely different part of the US not even close to the Northeast.

I wonder if some of the beech routes will become saab routes?! such as AOO/JST/ACK/HYA, since those cities receive both.

Hello,
I have heard that CJC might pick up some turboprop flying for Continental in TX and FL. As far as JST/AOO/HYA/ACK. I wouldn't be too surprised to see those go to all SAAB. Not sure which EAS cities don't meet FAR 139 criteria and thats the controlling issue with the SAAB. They are clearing out a heck of alot of trees in BLF too!!!

As far as aoo/jst/ack/hya I don't know anything about that nothing has been said. I think HYA will stay Beech just mainly for MX reason since Manassas is SAAB and ALB is now all SAAB they will need a main base for the beech. As far as the CO routes I don't think florida is in the picture I wish it was however.

Was LVS the all white C model? If so, what a piece of crap that was!! Hell, they were/all are pieces of crap.. Sadly enough, the one that crashed was a great flying airplane before the great folks in maintenance got a hold of it.

farewell LVC

Just FYI, the sole passanger on LVC's final revenue flight with Colgan last night was a priest .... coincindence ? hmmmmmm

Colgan is just another stale crumb left in the shadows by all the real Regionals.

Smells like death to me.....

Colgan is the one to watch

Smells like growth to me..except the part where USAir liquidates. I think Colgan will fair (or fare?) just fine. For one, they are family owned and operated, not some huge bureaucracy where the left hand does'nt know what the right hand is doing. Colgan has shown significant growth over the last few years. In 1999 they had 10 planes carrying 10,000 passengers a month serving 18 cities, by 2003 they had 30 planes carrying 40,500 passengers average per month serving 37 cities. Thats what..1+1=2...100% growth per year.
I'm no airline analyst but I would say Colgan is the one to watch.

I got word from a management type here at Horizon that we lost the bid to fly for CO out of Houston to Colgan.

I would guess it's because they're cheaper, not better!

Either your last name is Colgan or you really don't have a clue. I'm guessing you were part of the clump that paid for your job at Colgan and are hoping you don't lose your investment this soon.

Past growth is most certainly not an indicator or future growth. You're right in that Colgan had 10 airplanes in 1999 and grew rapidly. They grew because US Airways needed growth and they signed on the dotted line for those leases. Why did they need growth you ask?? Because in 1999 and beyond, ALG was in the early stages of going away. ALG routes were given to Colgan. Colgan didn't grow because they had outstanding service and quality airplanes.

Now, here we are in 2005. The airline industry is in the dumps, US Air is about out of business, and you think that Colgan Air and their many old ratty turboprops are the ones to watch.

Why would any other airline sign Colgan up to fly those ratty old turboprops when there will be a TON of jets that can do that same job for the same dollar? Not to mention the fact that Colgan is under some pretty heavy FAA oversight right now. I'm sure that's attractive to suiters.

I'm sure the big announcement will be made any day now. Unfortunately, it won't be the announcement you were expecting.

The problem with colgan is that they are aircraft type limited. They're whole program centers around the saab. If you look at other carriers such as American Eagle, and Mesaba to name a couple....they are getting rid of the saab for multiple reasons.

1) new FAA mandated weight change on Passengers

2) no US citizen likes flying a turboprop

3) fatigue and depriciation

Qcappy, I think you might have a point on that........still image of those propeller-driven puddlejuppers right? lol!
