I was hoping that my first post on this board would be meaningful and inspirational, but after reading the above quote (and i've read some pretty ridiculous things on this board), the only reply i can come up with is;
"you sir, are an ignoramus."

What these companies are about to go through will seriously affect everyone involved. So unless you have something intelligent to say, i suggest you shut your mouth and let the adults figure out the best course of action.

Having said that, can someone at Pinnacle explain to me exactly where you stand with your negotiations. When is the due date for a new contract? What would the repercussions be if that deadline was missed, etc...
I ask because i've never been involved with unions and since i don't have an ALPA lingo decoder ring, i'm having a tough time deciphering through all the union codewords.

Alright, our contract became amendable around 630 days ago. There is no deadline other than we continue to make lower than industry average wages, and we have a crummy QOL.

Our union is ready to negotiate. We have 11 sections left to be TA'ed. Our management came out a few months ago with their "Last, Best, and Final" offer. It was a joke that made me want to throw myself in front of a cement truck. Our management will continue to drag their heels, which will make retro pay all that much more sweeter.

We as Pinnacle/Colgan pilots need to come together on this. A lot is at stake.

From what I understand, if the pilot contract isn't ratified by March 31st, those 15 or 17 weight restricted 44 seat POS jets go back to the desert.

Good riddance.

The airplanes don't necessarily get taken away, they just have that option. I doubt they'll do it right away. They'll wait until we hire pilots to staff those planes, and then later in the year they'll threaten to get rid of the planes and furlough the new pilots if we don't settle. Typical red-tail "labor relations." Simply the best!!!

We're not exactly happy with the reps either. However I'm willing to work with them if and only if we can get a fair contract. We're tired of senior management jerking us around. I assume the pilots feel the same way.

I have a buddy currently in training (Lord have mercy on his soul) and he said they were converting the 44 seaters to 50 seaters when he was in the hanger in Memphis. Makes sense to me.

PCL_128, what again is the option to convert the airplanes to more seats? I mean, I don't see it happening, but I am curious.

There is no scope provisions on these 44 seaters staying in the 44 seat config. They will be changed over almost immediately. 6 more seats means more money in Phil's pocket. So how long do you think that will take?

I had to laugh when they first started converting them. Management said it would take a "number" of months to convert all of them. I think the were ALL completed in around a month. They cracked the whip on maintenance to get it done so they would have more cash.......then we bought Colgan without any negotiations with the pilot group. It's easy to see where their priorities lie. Go figure.

They have already modofied some of the 44 seaters that they pulled from the desert. I flew on one last week that had about 5 flights under its belt since being put back into the system. Had a gear malfunction and had to do an emergency landing in FWA. Non-eventful! Just working the bugs out...getting the sand out of the cracks.

Actually, Phil and Pinnacle don't receive anymore money from more seats. Pinnacle receives a fee-for-departure at a set rate, plus a guaranteed profit margin minus a few items that aren't pass-through costs (including fuel and leases under the new ASA). More seats only benefits NWA, not Pinnacle or Phil.
