Currently the upgrade is 18 months, but every month that is going to increase. They are only upgrading an average of 4 per month. Considering they hired about 20 FOs a month last year the writing is on the wall. Someone with a mid to high 200 or 300 seniority number is not going to upgrade for a long time unless 1) we expand more (not going to happen anytime in the near future) or 2) attrition. Doesn't seem like FO's are leaving like they used too. If they raise the 2nd year pay for FO's then people won't leave and upgrade will become 3+ years easy. Look at the numbers not the BS the company says.

Exactly. I wouldn't be suprised if Colgan had staffing problems on teh FO side in the next year or so.

How can XJ be 2 years when you are loosing like 76 airplanes? (You are still loosing them right?)
XJ is Mesaba, XJT is Expressjet, and upgrade is 2 years because they've had alot of captain attrition and they haven't lost any airplanes yet...

I don't know where to start on this one. Every word is incorrect. The number was 69 airplanes (25% of the fleet). We're keeping them. Those aircraft will be pulled from the CAL operation and be deployed elsewhere (TBA). The reason upgrade is at two years is because CAL keep throwing more and more block hours at us. We're short on the captain side, still. We're flying more than ever. Plus, as was said, people are moving on. Attrition is higher thna expected. Things are going quite well for us. Think and research before you make assinine comments. Thank you.

On a related note, why does everyone on this board want to see bad things happen to ExpressJet? I'm not really sure what we've done wrong.

suupah you are under the impression that they want you to stay. Having a high turnover rate, makes an unstable workforce, and that allows them to do whatever they want pay wise.

If you don't want to work for $19/$20 dollars an hour and you threaten to leave, do you they care? HELL NO! They will just get someone else to fill the slot.

Thanks ERFLY:
"Think and research before you make assinine comments. Thank you" Boy aren't you something special!
I don't keep up to date on my research of your company --so sorry. Hey here's one for yah "Have another cup of shut the F_CK up"

Attitudes like this are what you have done wrong!

Darn you figured us out Joe..... Maybe we should rename our airline "FagAir" or "GayAir" or even have another cup of shut the hell up!

You guys all sound like little girls Bitching.... Completely ridiculous.

I suggest you make the best of what you've got. Colgan has been good to me, never been yelled at for calling in sick, never forced to fly something I didn't want to.
I know that others have not had such good experiences, but a little politeness, just basic manners, on the phone can go a long way...

Colgan is the type of company you want to go to to get turbine PIC quickly. You want pay? Go elsewhere. You wanna upgrade within 2 years? Colgan is the place. There is bull******************** in every company, nothing is different.

I have nothing against XJT. I hear they are a good company, and their employees seem happy for the most part. Their pilots are top-notch.

I do, however, take pride in hand-flying the Beech down to minimums to land on a snowy runway...I like it. It'll make for good flying stories when I'm sitting pretty in my Boeing someday. Hopefully, someday, I'll make decent money, but for now, the Beech is a ton of fun, no matter how hot it is, or how many MELs we're flying with.

Those of you that want very high quality experience with Turbine PIC, look at Colgan. It's not all bad, things move fast, and our little mom-and-pop shop has been moving people to Continental, Southwest, various Fractionals, North American, Gemini....and so forth.

Has anyone heards anything about any proposed second year pay increases? all my friends at other airlines are making 35 an hour with per diem. they stand to make over 40 k their second year.

I am in my 3rd year at PSA and not making 35 and my health insurance costs more then it ever did at Colgan. I think the pay rate there is fair considering the seats you fly around. I think first year there is even equal to first year at PSA. If your loans are coming due, enroll in school part-time and get them back to a deferment.

Suupa,

Please tell me you didn't see that comming. For gods sake man if you didn't I really don't feel bad for you!

yeah i did, but the plan was to upgrade before they came after me

I think that Colgan is easy to pick on because they fly small airplanes and are a small company. Actually it really isn't that bad and I can't wait till my American interview when they ask me about flying in the northeast winters in a saab with an MEL or two. Seriously, it's good experience, and the upgrade is still going to be quick. Even if your senority is low right now you wont' be too bad off.

They sure as h*ll aren't working at MESABA, on ANY equipment!!! 2nd year FO pay <$30, 3rd year FO pay <$30, on all equipment, and that's before the crooked maggot management violently rips another 20% off.

I think the best part about colgan is that they pay 1.35 per diem. If that isn't an industry high I don't know what is. Because of my per diem I am able to eat food on a regular basis, and sometimes splurge for that special treat, like a wendy's frosty. Man life is good.

You're either joking or flying for the CO side.

You have no idea how many wendy's frosty's you can get when that extra 25 dollars is in your paycheck...at 99 cents a frosty thats at least 17.

That just made it worth reading the last 4 pages of crap.

About another 10 years for AA.
