Looks like Colgan had an inflight shutdown out of IAH yesterday. CAL asked SkyWest to pick up the slack for them for the rest of the week. Not a good way to start out. Maybe they should have a spare airplane in Houston.

Man, if that's true, what a great first impression!
 
It seems like over the past few years far more Saab engines get shut down than Beech engines. Are the GE engines really that much worse than the P&Ws? Does the fire detection system on the Saab throw false positives? Any opinions?
