Colgan Tuesday Conference Call Update

SSDD...Sounds like Eddie the Feddie has had enough with Maintenance and is cracking the whip.

Time to tighten up and write up every little problem with the plane, no matter what the Kremlin says.

It's either that or make check payable to the FAA

losing IAH CO flying to mesa perhaps? HA HA HA

If I had to guess... Colgan has had a big problem from day one of their operation. They (management) like to fly airplanes that are broken. They (again, management) would like (unofficially) captains to refrain from writing items up, Both MEL and non MEL items, until the flight day is over, and or an airplane and mechanic are co-located with enough time to take care of any problems.

In the past 18 months since the fatal accident, the FAA (Eddie and Freddy) have been keeping close tabs on Colgan. These close tabs include unannounced ride a longs (as passengers) as well as ramp checks up the wazo. In doing these checks, problems have been identified that need to be corrected.

When you're used to writing things up at the end of the night or not.. and someone says to you.. Hey you.. Is this a problem.. And you say.. Not really.. We'll take care of it later.. and that person who said hey you in the first place was from the FAA... Get the picture?? Not good!!

This is what's happening right now.. and from what I hear, it's happened 6 times in one form or another in the last few months.

My guess is that today's call was to warn, I mean remind crews that the FAA is watching and that they need to play by the rules for a while.

It also doesn't help when an aircraft that is on the ground waiting for maintenance decides to just load up and go...resulting in an engine shutdown and emergency air return back to the departure airport.

Last airline I can remember with this much oversight was shut down after 12 or so months without improvement. I hope they can get their stuff figured out. A lot of good people there!

Sounds just like what is going on at TSA with J41s in RIC. Except we write everything up.......... over, and over, and over, and over and forever. Then when 2 41s in two weeks shut down engines inflight for the same problem, the company doesn't get questioned, but the pilots get 709 rides! What an industry.

STAY AWAY FROM TSA!!! AND, DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT APPLYING @ GOJETS!!! IF YOU DO NOT HEED MY WARNINGS YOU WILL PAY!!!

WTF? How does one go from shutting an egine down to a 709 ride? Blew off the checklist? Spanked the SE landing? Curious.

Top 10 reasons colgan pilots are under the microscope right now:
10) Airtran has a new fleet now
9) More then three irregularity reports that had swear words in them
8) Pilots wearing cowboy boots and heel spurs on the ramp
7) Mechanic spotted dumping ENSURE into the fuel tanks
6) Passengers deplane crying, holding hands
5) LVS, the all white c model freak show
4) What chperplt writes on flight info
3) MX log has chew all over it
2) PFT money used to fund mechanics pen supplies
1) Manassas is a short hop from DC, most FAA go to bed by 7pm.

I'm glad to see thing haven't changed much since I left.

Just remember, "No Mr. FAA inspector that item broke enroute and before you interupted I was about to write said item up and call company like a good Captain should.

P.S. The Captain's double secret probation brief to the FO, We were getting ready to address that problem and it just recently came to our attention in the last few minutes.

I figured you would have singled out the citrus blast!! No insults intended. You know, reading more then 3-4 posts of my mindless filth per week can stunt the growth of your mind. Look for me me to post more filth later this week. LateOh, when you preflight your ride..you better make sure that thing on the side is stickered on there properly. We don't want rocket man peeling off and getting sucked into the engine and torn into a million pieces up at 340 on a saturday night. You don't want that right?

If I was assured no engine damage would result, that would be the best way to rid him off our planes -- Rocket Man, getting vaporized at altitude! The XM is good $hit though, too bad no connections in the cockpit.
