What do you call the last guy in his medical school class?

An ALPA Doctor.

You are better off joining AOPA and using thier medical and legal insurance than you are giving ALPA 2% of your pay.

Remember all ALPA wants is your 2%, do not expect them to work for you once they have the money.
Apparently you dont know much.

Having spoken to folks in many aspects of the industry, it is pretty obvious that ALPA has an EXCELLENT structure set up, particularly with regard to medical / certificate protection.

Ask a Teamsters pilot, an AOPA pilot, and an ALPA pilot who have had medical issues how it played out, and you will see what is the best system available.

As for going it alone, or hiring a lawyer, I'll go with a lawyer who has experience in aviation issues and deals with it on a day to day basis.

The perks that come with ALPA are top notch.
But it's the local people that makes the Union painful.
It's an effective power if the LEC/MEC actually knew how to operate and lead.
Look at the Comair guys. They've had it with their "leadership"

You're only as strong as your union. If you have strong people willing to step up, then your union will be good for you. Plus, all ALPA reps, committee chairs and committee members are strictly volunteers. They do NOT get paid any extra for helping out. They do it, because they want to.
Your CA and FO reps volunteer their time to help make your job easier and better. If they do a lousy job, then you can have them replaced.

Before you vote, make sure you talk to current ALPA members. See how they truely feel about ALPA.

These guys are going to be dealing with the PCL management..

ALPA isn't God Almighty, but it sure can keep the PCL machine off your back..

Ahhh..the ole' ALPA fear mongering. Classic.

I want Colgan FO's to understand something....you can defend yourself in ANY situation...without ALPA.
Do you want to give your money away every paycheck? Or just when something goes awry?

2% every paycheck....or pay for a lawyer when the time comes.

W

Wow.. You're an idiot..

A year's worth of dues for a first year Colgan FO is around $200. Call a lawyer and make an appointment, ask him how much that first appointment is going to cost you.

First year pilots do not pay dues since they are on probation.
