general question to ponder...what do you think will happen, when and if, usairways goes under, with colgan air??? do you think they will seperate and continue as colgan air, or will they fly under another carrier like united?!?!? they've already been with continental, and i know they won't go back there....so someone else could come into play...?!

Probably just keep a few Beechs to do the EAS stuff like BKW, BLF, AUG, etc. as Colgan. New code share would probably take a while to set up.

you don't think they will get picked up by another carrier?? or at least want to?? do they have to apply to another carrier or do they get requested??

To your question #1... Yes, another carrier will probably pick them up when US Air goes away. BUT.. they will probably only get to feed EAS routes into select cities. No one other than U has a need (at least they think it's a need) for turboprops in their system. The 1900s will run the EAS and the Saabs will go away.

As far as your second question, the call can go either way. Most likely, the Colgans will be picking up the telephone and making contact with other carriers. If the opportunity to add a second codeshare were available, they would have done so already.

The Colgans will do anything to keep the buffet open.

i don't think delta, united , american , airtran, jetblue, northwest southwest , ata, amer west(used to under mesa) would ever consider this. they all vowed sometime ago in the pres to be all jet fleets. it's a marketing thing. commute air is doing continental.

a longshot and maybe not out of the question would be some deal with independence air out of dulles, manassas is next door.

that may be more than my allowable 2 cents!

P.s. ( i 've never forgotten the laughter of dulles passengers getting on the c models i flew to pit and back last year as well as the HPN to boston runs. in 2004 people shouldn't have to get on a tincan on roller skates."

I can't count the number of pax that walked down the stairs in IAD, took one look at the super dave osborne machine and turned around. IAD to BFE is fine... but not to LGA, PIT, ect...

so I take it you just got hired at colgan. I hope you didn't pay. It's not looking favourable for UAIR.

The problem is, colgan is a prop only carrier. Who wants them?
CAL already has commutair in NEngland, DELTA yeah they want saabs and 1900's,
The only option is UAL out of IAD. EAS routes will stay as they are. Without any preplanning it will take time to transfer to UAL, which means probably losses greater than 9/11. pay freezes, furloughs, forced moves without pay, you name it!. I love the airlines :(

United is using Dashes out west, and they just recently added more to the fleet.

i just can't see them staying as "colgan"...i guess the best, and most obvious, thing for them to do would be to go with UAL...:p
