Units that are looking...
While this is a bad time to join reserve/ANG flying units due to supply/demand equation, I would advise you to visit Baseops.net and go to the bottom and browse the units that are advertising.
It would be much easier for you to join a helicopter unit (most are currently short and hiring..e.g. NY ANG 106RQW is ten pilots short in the HH-60), a fixed wing unit is not out of the question. Fixed-wing qual slots are now tougher than they used to be so any unit has to go through some hoops to hire you but it is possible. Fighters are usually toughest as well as the DC Guard, KC-10s and some units in nice places like March. Units flying heavies tend to send plenty of guys to FWQ and if they are transitioning to a new airframe it is usually the best time to get in e.g. Jackson, Warner-Robins, Memphis, Honolulu. Face time is the way to do it. Remember this is a system where you "pledge" a unit and take your time.
Good luck,
