Does any pilot group out there have a provision in their contract that provides them with Cost of Living raises (ie. yearly contract anniversary raises) past the contract amendable date? Its seems to me that you use to be able to rely on 18 months to negotiate a contract. Now that number seems like it has crept up to about 3-4 years. Is this a new union breaker concept? I just think its time to change our strategy as well. We have to work hard just to get the COL we lost during negotiations, with little to no hope of improving our pay beyond that. Your thoughts please.

I've been saying this for a while...

Part of the negotiating process needs to include "automatic" 3% COLA after the amendable date as a method to bring management to the table in a timely fashion.

Management will obviously fight this concept tooth-and-nail, but it needs to become industry-standard with the way management draws out negotiations in a way the RLA was NEVER intended to be used...

yes, at Mesaba we have a 1.5% COL raise per year after the amendable date - part of the concession contract a little over a year ago.
