I heard that CoEx will begin recalling their furloughees and expect to have all 250? back by June. Is there any truth to this or just another rumor. "Hey maybe they'll hire newbies after June too" Wishful thinking?

Yes ExpressJet is going to recall. Aprox. 40 in May, 40 in June, and 30 a month there after. When CAL recalls, the hiring here will be brisk. With that said nobody has any clue when CAL wil recall.

We are still getting 4 new planes a month throught the rest of the year. 2004 will be 2.5 to 3 planes a month.

I've wanted to get a job with Continental Express since day one. I pray that it's still a great place to work once I'm prepared. I'll have my degree, and flight time to par in mid 2004.
:D

When Coex does start hiring- there will be no more 400-1000 hrs wonders- minimums in 98- (which was a much better market than todays) 2500 total and 500 MEFW- in 2000 - 01 we had pilots being hired with 400-500 hours total - but with the competitive market today - you are seeing furloughed and military pilots with all jet time knocking on the doors of ASA - ACA- Comair- etc.- with the majors not hiring anytime soon - (my guess 2009-10) - the supply and demand equilibrium will push the qualifications back toward the 98 hire time if not higher- in my initial class in 98- average time was about 3000 total- - In 97-98 you could upgrade to captain in a year - now- we have 3 and 4th year pay first officers- so new hires may see anywhere from 3- 5 years in the right seat - (or more) - no more shake and bake- Also your stats on 250 furloughs from express is low- we have well over 300 furloughed pilots on the books- but who knows how many will actually return- Max

3-5 years?

Wish I could be in the left seat for that long! I think you meant "right" seat.

No chance everyone will be back by June

Recalls are rumored to start around April, or May. The current recall forecast has most furloughed pilots back by the end of 2003. My crystal ball is not quite as clear as Mr. Smart's, however, I would think that competetive mins will be higher than in the past. Look to ACA and Comair averages for an idea. If you want to work for Coex, go for it. Good luck.

I just want to say this is great news. I have nothing to do with this but to hear about guys getting their jobs back is great!!!!!
CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D
