How hard is it to drop reserve days or trips at coex? Are you stuck in a schedule or can you manipulate it a little?

Thanks

Do you mean "drop" as in get rid of or do you mean "trade" one for another? We just started our new contract this month and I do believe you can trade reserve days, but don't quote me on that.

either! I hate being in a forced schedule, which is what I've been doing for the last couple of years.

thanks

Well I'm afraid you won't like reserve very much then :)

Even when you do have days off, if they are not your immovable days......they can and will roll your days off. When you get back from that 4 day trip and you think you are going home....good ole scheduling will be waiting to give you another trip. I was on reserve last winter and only had this happen to me a few times, but you are still at their beck and call.

Once you do get a line your flexibility will improve greatly!

I never work more than 4-4day trips in a month. I have never had a problem dropping trips. This month I even dropped my trip to have christmas off. When I was on reserve as long as there is minimum coverage it was not a problem. You don't get paid but you can personal drop it. And on the FO side in IAH it was not a problem. The CAPTAIN side however i hear is really bad. They are really far behind on upgrading captains to fill all the guys leaving for CAL. It will probably be all over the place for a while. There are 64 captains upgrading next month which means less FOs. Rumors are flying that we will even have another perm bid next month for more upgrades! Who knows.

Oh yea, and there are two line improvement windows once you are a line holder to trade for better trips.

Provided there is coverage, reserve pilots may personal drop reserve days under our new contract at 48 hours prior to the start of the reserve day.

Is there usually adequate coverage? Or do they run it barebones so it's hard to drop? I've been at Independence and for the last year or more its been impossible to drop much or move days around.

I've only got so much sick leave:)

21 A/C deliveries in '05 and about 200 flowback pilots leaving by april. That does not include the top 112 and who knows how many pref intervievies will leave out of about 300 with letters.

Can you say understaffed?

I just personal dropped my reserve day tomorrow so I could get home earlier for "my early Christmas." Also, scheduling moved my days off for next month around so I could get the 1st/2nd/3rd off, so that I could get myself moved from CLE to EWR for my base advancement. So yes, you can manipulate your schedule to a certain degree.

Now only if I could manipulate my schedule to do some flying. I haven't flown at all in the past couple weeks.

Enjoy the break while you can. Happy holidays! This is the place to be, but we'll be working our a$$es off next year.

Yeah, I'm sure you're right!
