"CASS works except for riding in the cockpit."

? I believe the first two letters in CAss stand for Cockpit Access...? So if you cannot ride in the cockpit Cass does NOT work!

Riding in the back is just a glorified non-rev ticket and the seats in the back are always full nowadays. The idea behind Cass is to make it easer for pilots to make it to and from work. Cockpit jumpseat cannot be used by anyone else than a pilot from participating airline.

Can Colgan (continental connection, but not in CASS) ride cockpit jumpseat on CAL?

If you fly in the Continental System and have a JA entry, you can ride in the cockpit. Otherwise, no.

Hi!

I'm at USA Jet Airlines.

i do not see USA Jet on the CAL jumpseat list. the list i found was on our flight ops website and i would think it is up to date, but it may not have current information.

i'll try to ask a gate agent if they can access the list in their computer and see what they can provide.

CAL is one of the worst airlines to jumpseat with nowadays. Their gate agents treat you like dirt and if get to to the cockpit the 24 yr wonder pilot FO seems always to ask what equipment I am on and then says "cool" and lets me know that he will probably upgrade in 2-3 years. I do not need to here this crap. It took me 15 years to upgrade, so this is the last thing I want to hear.
I avoid CAL as much as possible. How times have changed. CAL used to be my favorite ride home in the 90's.

We are working on fixing the issues we have as far as jumpseat access for OAL. As far as the comments about the "wonder pilot", many of our new hires(myself included) are not 24 yr wonder pilots. We have been thru many previous employers, are more than happy to be here and looking forward to an opportunity to upgrade. So please don't judge the rest of us because of what you encountered on one of your commutes. By the way, it will be about 15 yrs by the time I upgrade here if I include all of my prior employers so I can relate to your experience.

I have a guess...could you tell me your jumpseat departure & destination cities?

It was FLL to EWR

That's not true. CASS is for the cockpit. Airlines which are not CASS are still allowed to ride in the back.

Direct from a gate agent in the EWR A-Terminal (green screens) today: "If your not in cass, your NOT going!"

Of course cass does not work there for anyone (no picture capability).

All shall not forget it is still a privilege however
