Anyone know when the bid will come out for the JFK domicile? Did they start assigning JFK to new hires?

72 crews according to the bid packet. 20% reserves.

Word on the street is that the base will be growing over the summer. Fred was quoted as saying that all 10 of the new to us -200s will be heading up there to increase the flying as they come.

Some management type did say they want JFK to grow to over 150 crews at some point.. Don't know when that point is.

"72 crews according to the bid packet. 20% reserves." Just want to know where you heard 20% from. I've missed all of Butrell's meetings. 15 reserves out of 72 doesn't seem all bad.

Is this in addition to the 72 crews already planned on being there, sounds like it is. I'm on the border of getting JFK CPT now, and with these 10 additional going up there it would be almost a guarantee.

Sleeve, what month/year were you hired? I'm guessing sometime in '02 if you are on the border. Were you summer of '02?

sleeve,

20% is from establishment planning, specifically in relation to the GSO base, but since JFK starts out a similar size, they said it'll probably carry over.

of great interest to me in GSO since we open with limited crews. looks like i'll be one or two lines above reserve in June, hopefully.

From what I've heard (Sitting ready 6 times this month I've heard a lot from many people talking to CPs) is that the initial bid does not account for any of the new aircraft currently slated to expand JFK service.

I've got over a year with CMR and would be happy as a pig in _ _ _ _ if I can get in the top 20 FOs up there.. I would love to shove that pager up.... well, you get the picture.

I was hired in Feb '02, but because of the Bombardia(sp?) strike didn't make it to class til late spring. Looking at the GSO base and how junior it went got me all worked up about Kennedy and since I'm from upstate and lived in Jersey for a little bit Kennedy would be great.. But it seems like more and more FO's r bidding JFK. Unfortunately between the time I was hired and the time I got to class there were like 50-80 guys run through training, so even though the most junior CPT is like 6 months senior to me it's still like 100+ numbers. It's gonna be a long week for sure.

chperplt,

I would guess that getting in the top 20 would be easy especially with over a year here. I think they are gonna have a bit more of a problem filling FO spots than Cpt. slots. With the exception of the guys that live right in NYC.. Most of the FO's I know from my neck of the woods will only go as Captains because we get a descent schedule as FO's in CVG... Weren't you hired at Trans States at one time, I think I remember you on the TSA board a while back, I got hired there just before 9-11 after a furlough from another carrier.

Nope.. Never interviewed at TSA. I have been on their board a few times talking with friends..
