All the runway construction going on at CLE is great and should increase capacity.

However, IMO ... CLE is the pits. I recently flew a twin Commanche into CLE, and rented a car at the FBO for three hours (crew car not available).

One week later a bill shows up from the City for a $30.00 landing fee. Yesterday, I received my credit card statement and noticed that Hertz charged me for two full days car rental ($98) for the three hours. The FBO and Hertz at CLE both tell me they cannot help, I need to call Hertz HQ in Oklahoma on the toll-free line first thing Monday morning. Great, now Monday AM will find me playing push the phone buttons and listen to the computer wait game.

Next time I'll land at Lakefront and fight the traffic to get southwest of the city.

That's odd...I've had the landing fee waived for getting enough gas...

...when I did have to pay the fee it was $40 tho, so I'd say you still got a good deal.

Which FBO did you use? I paid the fee at the Jet Ctr and had it waived at Air Services...just wondering?

I used Air Services, and I also purchased 36 gallons of fuel. No one told me about the $30 charge, it just showed up in the mail.

what's the latest news on the fate of the IX center? they are just so landlocked over there! they should have been smart before and bought lots of extra land like they did at other major airports. once again... CLEVELAND.
