I know CJ1 can be flown single pilot given the pilot was typed that way. But I heard the other day that an AD was out on the autopilot in them which has shown to have some gliches in it and they are requiring 2 pilots regardless if the pilot is single pilot qualified.

Just wondering if there was any truth to this.

Thanks

There was an ad issued Oct 22, 2003 that requires a new trim card installed. There was an accident where a pilot was unable to prevent a runaway trim condition by depressing the autopilot/trim disengage switch. So, now all CJs have to get this new card installed. Until the card is installed, the autopilot must be deativated, along with the yaw damper and electric trim.

Some people got the card within two days. Others without connections and pull are being told three weeks until they can get the card.

With the autopilot inoperative, the CJ cannot be operated single pilot. Once the card is installed, the autopilot can be used again, and the aircraft can then be flown single pilot.
