This afternoon, I was listening to a group of journalists on the radio discussing their experiences in Afghanistan and Iraq. One of the issues they discussed was the fact that we Americans are not aware of the large number of civilian casualties inflicted in those two countries. One man pointed out that a 2,000 pound precision bomb can scatter shrapnel over an area two miles in diameter. Even if such a bomb hits its target squarely, it could devastate any innocent bystanders in the area.

And I thought to myself, "yeah, I'll bet it's almost as bad as flying a 767 into an office building!!!"

For the love of god, has everyone completely forgotten about September 11th? Why are so many Americans crying about civilian casualties in Iraq...when so many Iraqis were dancing in the streets about our civilian casualties in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania?

I know I sound like a racist as_hole...I'm not! I don't want to see innocent people killed or maimed, but c'mon! Has everyone just forgotten about the W.T.C. and the Pentagon? My concern for "innocent bystanders" in nations who sponsor terrorism pretty much evaporates when I think of all the children who were orphaned that Tuesday morning.

Am I out of touch, or has everyone really forgotten?

I agree with you completely and everytime I hear about it I always remember 911. That is why it makes me sick to this day about the way we (minus I )"support" Israel. Don't think 911 would have ever happened if we didn't support them.

Should be very interesting times ahead and God Bless the families who lossed loved ones on that Tuesday morning-

we will never forget-

I remember seeing Palestinians cheer on 9-11, but not Iraquis.

Still waiting to hear how Saddam/Iraq had anything to do with 9-11. Hope I'm not being too unpatriotic for asking.

There were several incidents in the DFW metro area of celebrations in local mini-marts that morning. Three involved Palestinians, one Iraqi, and one Syrian.

It's not, and anyone who would criticize you for asking questions is not a true American.

I may be losing my sympathy for middle eastern peoples, but I still don't believe in just shutting up and believing whatever Mr. Government tells us to believe.

Typhoon, I too hear frustrating ignorance on the radio every day. All of these pacifists who say that war never solves anything apparently hope everyone else in the world shares their position.

This war was not to avenge the last attack. It was to prevent the next one. Boys and girls, 9/11 was nothing more than a simple car bomb compared to what's possible in the world of WMDs in the hands of terrorists. Instead of 3000 dead, what if our nation was coping with the loss of 800,000 innocent people and a city that will be uninhabitable for the next 25,000 years? That's a day we all must fight to prevent from ever coming.
Our troops in Iraq are uncovering a little more evidence every day that shows the world that we acted just in the nick of time.

350driver, you can go on believing all the world needs is a group hug, and all will be well. The enemy hates you, and he hates me, and he is sworn to kill us whatever our opinion of him.

Its not unpatriotic to have a view, but they arrested an Al-Queda guy in Iraq today, and the have discovered paper detailing a meeting between Iraq and Al Queda in 1998.

I think they should stop talking about this as "the" war. Its the second battle in a war.

"One man pointed out that a 2,000 pound precision bomb can scatter shrapnel over an area two miles in diameter"

That statement is like saying "a 50,000 pound airplane can cruise at Mach 2."

The has been evidence released that links Al-Queda and Iraq. Must there be a link between Iraq and 9-11 for the battle to be justified. The 12 years of lying to the U.N., decades of mass murder and torture to the people that live there, and a few buildings with human remains in bags along with the paperwork that outlines who is in those bags is justification enough for me.
