Turn in the shortest direction to join the little dashed line that depicts the missed approach course.

Incorrect. He would, as explained by others, begin an immediate climb while turning in the direction of the landing runway (18) to establish on the MAP course.

Wouldn't he? :erm:

Personally, I too, prefer the split-S to establish on the MAP course. :nuts:

The Split-S would certainly be exciting, but I think I like the Immelman much better!
