I was a Captain at another regional until things went south. I thought I was hired on at CHQ to fly for Republic on the EMB170 as a FO. However, I just found out that I will be hired under SA. Now, this is getting very confusing. I came to CHQ because I live in Indy and wanted to fly for CHQ, not SA.

I know there was another thread on this but can someone tell me what the heck is going on? I understand the American Scope Clause but why do I have to be employed by SA?

A mess... Am I going to live the CHQ quality of life or the SA quality of life?

Welcome to three companys under one flag:rolleyes: As I understand it, and keep in mind that this is from maintenance, the 170 will be flown either partialy or wholy by SA crew, maintenance controll by CHQ, SA dispatch and maintained by CHQ mechanics. SA maintenance will not touch the 170 for at least a year. From what I have hear at S5 is that the SA and CHQ pilot group is merging together but I am not sure when that will happen. For now if you want the 170, youll have to go with SA. Good luck and welcom to the circus:)

Well, this answers one question... A friend of mine wanted to know if he should apply to SA or to CHQ to get in on the 170 at SA.

It shouldn't make any difference to you since you will still be on the EMB170 and as such, be based either in IND or ORD. All the EMB170's will be on SA's certificate shortly and therefore to be a EMB170 pilot you must be an SA employee. 'Quad era demonstrata'.

new hires for right now into the 170 have to pick whether they want to work for republic or shuttle. Shuttle will fly for one code share and republic will fly for another. Once you are on either shuttle or republic you CAN NOT switch to the other. they explained this many times during class today. Eventually, they said the CHQ 170's will be switched over to either shuttle or republic.

I was told by Rosa today that Shuttle is your only option if flying the 170. I was also infomed that from several friends that are in training in STL currently. All very interesting. Thanks again for your replies.

Just take it. I have flown on the 170 as a pax and I was very impressed.

Kroger............ cashier or hose down vegetables, and fly corporate on the side until you can get a decent job.

Good luck:)

I had the same thing happen to me for a dispatch position, I applied with CHQ and was called by SA to interview.....This all seems confusing at first, but its starting to make sense now. However there was no mention of merging dispatchers, as I believe CHQ is union and SA is not. I was told I would be releasing the 170's and the Saabs...for UAl, DAL and USair.....good luck to all and glad to see a turnaround for the future of Shuttle America..
