Hey, y'all, when did pilots start deciding where airplanes go? Grow up and lose the insults.

What hapened at coex sucks, but don't blame the Shaniqua guys for bidding it. Blame Contintental management for bidding it out, blame your contract scope clause for allowing it, and blame yourself for ratifying the contract.

It has Zero to do with XJT scope. And Zero to do with our Contract.

we can't scope CAL flying, only XJET. We are seperate companies. It would be like us going to delta and saying you can't fly into IAH unless we do the flying.

OK, maybe I am misunderstanding the situation, but I thought Continental took the flying from XJET and put it up for bid. That would mean there is nothing in the XJET scope section binding its flying to the mainline partner. Since the two companies used to be one before the spin off, true brand scope was a lot more attainable at XJET than a lot of other carriers. But you didn't get it. Instead you got a great contract with retro pay. We all make choices.

We were spun off almost 3 years prior to our new contract. There was absolutely nothing we could do. In our current contract all we could do was scope XJET and its holding company and we did, very well I might add. The only way we could of kept all the CAL flying was if the CAL MEC would have scoped anyone else from coming into CAL hubs.

How do you figure? "Used to be" are the key words here.

Well then it sounds like the CAL MEC let you down. Maybe that's a good question for our reps to be asking John Prater as he campaigns for Duane's job.

Johnny, you work for ASA right?

The scabs in IAH didn't like the fact that ya'll (Express Jet) pilots were the swing vote that brought ALPA in as the new bargaining agent. The IACP required that all members (including the scabs) of the IACP be allowed into ALPA or there would be no support for merger of the two unions. Those scabs should all be retired in the next 10 years but because of them they forced the vote to split the Express Jet pilots from the mainline MEC and also because they whined constantly that Express Jet pilots got to much money from THEIR budget.

You have much to learn grasshopper. Show me a regional scope clause that can dictate who the parent company can and can't do business with. There was no way for our (XJT) scope to prevent CAL from choosing to place flying up for bid. We here at XJT have an excellent scope clause in our contract but in can only by nature limit what OUR company can and cannot do.

We do not dictate terms to CAL, nor does any other fee for departure company.

Prater is a stand up guy. I have had several personal conversation with him. He always supported Express issues however he was not in a position to dictate to CAL its relationship with a company it no longer owned. Prater is a full term striker, something few in the old CALALPA could claim.

Calalpa had the chance to create one list. They didn't because of the scabs and now we are two different MECs. Is that a good thing? Hell no! The point to a union is to be united. But now our interests are counter to Cals, so...we...XJT must say ******************** YOU to CALAlpa. We need the largest airplanes at XJT with the highest possible pay.

Why does it suck? They're keeping the 69 airframes and hiring. There should be no bad blood here...

Uh, well, as of now, we probably only have "homes" for 28 or so of the 69, with only 3 or so of those 28 able to be flown by XJT pilots. Supposedly the big rumor (no official statement yet from the company) is that the 3 are being set up for charter and 25 will be re-leased out to Aviacsa- so the company makes some money on them but no jobs for the pilots. We're out of the Midwest RFP because we cant go into EWR (thanks CAL again!) and who knows if we're bidding on the Delta RFP, b/c again we cant go to any of CAL's hubs. Dont know what else is out there for the other 40 or so planes? Possibly Frontier and some sort of branded flying- hopefully un-like Indy Air.

We'll see, moderate attrition is happening, so at least thats good I guess. Nothing like not knowing what is going to happen to your job this time next yr!!!!

No bad blood??? Well, I wouldnt say I'm just waiting to run up to a CHQ pilot and shake his hand and say, "welcome to the Continental team and good to see the COEX on your CRJs!" Thats if they are going to paint anything on their airplanes anyway besides the generic blue and white....
