Actually there are a couple of junior guys spread out at just about every base. The only bases you will not get off the bat is MCO & LGA. After that, for FOs now the more senior bases (at least in terms of having the fewest junior FOs) are GSO, STL & RIC. But you never know you could get one of those three right out of IOE if you wanted it. Your age will determine your seniority in your class, so if you are older you will stand a better chance. But again if you want to go to MCO or LGA forget about it.
Where are you wanting to go?

Thanks for the info Dogtown. I just apply for CHQ, still waiting for call. I know with the hours and age most likely would get the EM-170 for Republic or Shuttle. But I rather take the ERJ-145 if I could get LGA as a base.

Hey right traffic, how long ago did you apply? I applied via e-mail, fax and online app to Republic about, 2 and a half maybe 3 weeks ago. No word yet. How long has it been taking for other applicants, any ideas? I'm in the same boat as you, Id take the LGA base if I got the 145, but if on the 170, who knows. Seeee Ya.

I applied on a Thursday, online only, got a call the next Monday, interviewed the next Wednesday, got a class date 2 Fridays later.

Well your age won't matter one the aircraft, actually they had raised the numbers for both types, so really you will just go where they need you. You can make your request, but.... Actually they will be bringing pilots into both aircraft so you might get a choice.
If you really want LGA though the 145 out of there will probably go away or reduce in size by a large margine due to the 20 145s going to Cal. While the 170 might easily get a base in LGA (Republic only).

Resume' sent July 5, got a call July 7 for interview July 12, got offered Aug 31 calss, turned it daown, then got offered Aug 8 class, took it. Fastest process I ever saw.

correct....i had buddies in my class...who not only got SDF right out of training but never sat reserve..not even for a day....had 80 or 90 hour lines from day 1

Not really that way anymore. With the MCO displacements only getting CMH and SDF as their choices, it is going to be one of the largest bases for CHQ.

i think indy should grow a little bit...ive been here since february and the junior line holder in indy is 4 ahead of me....should be some spots in indy with upgrads and such

I applied on July 26 via e-mail, fax and online to Republic Airways Holdings in the career section but it redirected me to Chautauqua. I guess it don't really matter they can put you either on Republic, Shuttle or CHQ.

With KC-135 and 727 time why would you want to go to CHQ?

Thanks for the info. Anyone's crystal ball have an idea of how long hiring is going to last?

Airplanes are coming until '08 for LCC, and people are heading to CAL, SWA, AirTran and maybe a few others as well. Furloughees are getting recalled. I've had some F/Os saying they've moved up 100 numbers in like 4 mos.

Looks like it's going to be hiring for awhile. If you come over, don't forget negotiations can start as early as April.....

Starchecker, why do seem so negative towards Indy, have you every lived there?

Its an inside joke, I believe what he meant to say is "Center of the Aviation Universe"

I was offered the August 3 training class, but turned it down...I expected another class to be offered relatively soon, but it's been a couple weeks.
Are classes offered on an interview-chronological-order basis? Or what?
Anything that I can do to make SDF more a possibility...other than take the first available E-145 class?

I have other - what I thought were basic questions - about CHQ, but the recruitor was unable to answer them...maybe someone here can help out?
# of sick / vacation days for a newbie?
on a day-to-day basis, is there any difference between Teamsters vs. ALPA?
while still on reserve, does one bid for days on/off? or are you on a 5/2 (or whatever)-type schedule?

I cant really answer the question about ALPA and Teamsters bc ive only been with Teamsters....some might say there are some drastic differences...As far as days off on reserve expect right at 11 right out of training....you can bid for days off through the PBS system when you bid for the folowing month...completely depends on Captain Joe's mood and your seniority as to whether or not your gonna get it. hope this helps....good luck

Boomlrd...did you fly for 727's for CAT? Did you send your stuff in to another 72 operator like Kallitta II? Sorry to hear about the furlough. Good luck at CHQ

I sure did, but I am looking for a change of pace. The night freight gets to you after a while, plus I heard the upgrades will be speeding up here real soon, so I am hoping. I think I will like a stable schedule as well. So any rumors to how fast the upgrades will increase to? In the interview we heard the RAH will hire about 600 pilots by April 07', like I said I am just crossing my fingers and hoping this all comes true.
