is the written test off the atp or is it fill in the blank? Anybody have answers to the test??
any info on the interview would be great.

they called today.

thanks

Good Luck! There is a review for the OLD test on aviationinterviews.com, I used it back in Jan for the interview and the review helped alot. Unfortunately the test has changed in the past 3 months or so making any old versions you find obsolete. Study VDP's for YOUR CURRENT A/C, and most/all other questions are similar to those out of the instrument written. I.E. what are the items associated with an ILS? ( don't forget the approach lights! ) In the HR/Tech interview I was asked about what you can do if you see them on an approach ( come down to 100' above TDZE ) and a few others again straight from instrument written. Thay are hiring into the 145, and 170 right now but you muct have ATP mins to get the 170. See you on the line!

Not true, I was hired into the 170 with less than atp mins. I am short about 60 hr of cross country time. On the other hand, I have about 1400hr as a flight engineer and that may have swayed thier decision. By the way, my class date is mar 27 in stl.

Show me a company that pay their FOs a rate that is equal to the equipment they fly. Wait let me do this for you..

1st year FO Pay

CAL $30
UA $30--Not hiring
DAL $48--not hiring
AA $35--not hiring
NWA $30 FO & FE--- Not hiring
US A $25 $41 for E190
AWA $38
SWA $50

Now you tell me this is fair pay for their first year. Most of them are legacy carriers. Look at Cal, is $30/hr fair for flying a B-777 or may be NWA b-747 at 30 is fair for the FE and FO.

Let us look at you. What company do you work for. Are you proud of the company you work for? Are you willing to let us know what your first year pay is/was and your second year? Now that I went through all of this it occurs to me that you like to instigate stuff. I am cool with that. Have your little fun, watch some more tv while on reserve.

By the way I am was proud of the comany I worked for until they started 1113c filling and furloughed me. I am a former XJer on the Avro.

What do you have now? Something with wisdom or some dumb--- remarks about race to the bottom, stealing someones flying, or.. what do you have?

Shuttle side or Republic for the class on the 27th?

The J4J bidding/classes are done. The last one starts on 3/20 - all capts, no fo takers, however some in the 3/20 J4J class are being held as FO's with Capt pay as they are behind on training FO's now and the J4J guys are back online within 4 weeks as the bridge training is 2 weeks ground school and 2 sims. With this info inhand I would guess the class would be for Rep. FO's.

what's the deal?

Does Republic Airways run combined classes for the 170 with some going to Republic and others to Shuttle? I'm in the 3-27 for Shuttle, but everyone else I've talked to says their in for Republic. Any answers?

I don't think so. Two totally differant operations.

Right now you CANNOT bid between the two....guessing that will change eventually in the future

The only way you can switch companies that I know of is to be awarded a higher paying position....i.e. upgrade

AVROGUY, great reply! I was thinking the same thing and you beat me to it! All 1 year FO pay is pretty much the same at most companies as you point out. CAPT pay does change at CHQ/Shuttle/Republic for seat number, unlike a few other regionals. As a matter of fact, according to airlinepilotcentral.com top Capt pay for a Republic 170 more than EVERYBODY but Horizon on 70 seaters, and is the same as Mesa's 90 seater pay, so why that tard was talking smack about working at Republic I don't know.

On the switching between companies thing, you can go from RW to RP/S5 at upgrade but not as FO. And if you upgrade to the 145 at RP, then want S5, as soon as your seniority can hold it you can transition to S5, but once you are on the 170 as a Capt you are pretty much there as you can't downgrade yourself.

And on shuttle/republic classes being held together, nope...different certificates requiring different training programs, at least on paper.

so i guess no help on the interview?

what is the "questions questions" book

DME arc question, it’s a 10dme arc and you have to figure out the distance along the arc from a fix until you incept the final approach course. how do you do that??

Circumference=pi X Diameter

So the diameter of a 10dme arc would be 20.

1) So if you were going to do a full 360degree 10dme arc you would cover:

C=pi *20
C=62.8nm

2) Now if you going to only cover part of the arc (more realistically) find the amount of degrees you traverse on the arc.

So if you start on the R-090 and end on the R-180, that is 90 degrees.

Find the percentage of the arc you’ve traversed.

90/360=.25

3) So now take 25% of the full arc distance you calculated in step one:

62.8nm * .25%=15.7nm

And there is your answer. (I think, I really didn’t consult any text books for this)

Disclaimer: If you run out of fuel b/c my DME arc distance calculation is completely incorrect don’t sue me, sue someone rich.

I'm guessing there is a Rule of Thumb for this though.

first of all---don't lock eyes with the interviewer. It put's them on edge!!! Second dont make any sudden moves! They might freak out and go bizerker on you!!!!The next thing you know youll have a wirlwind of fist and elbows in your face.
