I am curious as to why you agreed to fly the 70 for 50 rates. This is not a flame! I really want to know what the company's sell was and what your logic was in approving those rates. Thanks.

Short version, had to do with UA J4J and the economic trade-off of having to pay new FO's the top FO rate on the airplane vs. other things that we wanted in the contract.

Are the E-170s going to actually be flown by guys on the CHQ senority list, or is this a Republic alter-ego,separate list-type thing? I have a friend who's a senior CHQ FO and he related some concern to me that the CHQ folks have about the 170 and Republic. Is BB trying to whipsaw you from within?

Thanks

Hey, atleast they didn't agree to SkyWest's deal---up to 99 seats for 50 seat wages! Maybe they will fly the A318 for E120 wages next!

They may have sold you a bill of goods. As far as I know UAL is paying the difference between first and second year pay. I have friends who are furloughed UAL currently flying at SkyWest and they get a supplemental check from UAL that covers the difference between the 19.02 and 2nd year RJ FO pay.

The real reason you probably have to fly 70 seaters at 50 seat rates is the SkyWest TA that got that trend started. Time will tell if that goes away or not.

Do you think CHQ is going to give their secrets away? I can't wait for MESA to start flying 70 seaters. I was told by the hire ups that someday I'll fly a 777, and then everybody else will just wish they were MESA pilots.

Man I love MESA!

me thinks mesa already flies 70 and 90 seaters boner.

everyone already wishes they were a mesa pilot. they just happen to be at air midworst.

The whipsaw was a lot of what the last contract was about. CHQ pilots gave up some stuff in order to keep pilots from both companies on the same seniority list. Last contract BB tried to do a Freedom/Mesa on CHQ pilots.

I don't know if a loophole can be found in the contract to completely seperate the two companies. Right now all pilots are CHQ. However, once the Republic certificate gets approved, E170 drivers will become Republic pilots. What this transition will be like, I am not sure (and no one seems to know).

Thanks for the info. Will the RP pilots still be a part of your Teamsters shop?

And you would be right my friend. They fly them for America West out of PHX.

Yes (as it stands right now... can't imagine that changing)

new guy question...what is "whipsaw"?

When you use one thing to leverage against another. In other words, using one pilot group as leverage against another pilot group. "If you don't sign this contract, we will start to give flying to <insert alter ego here>"

Are the U pilots entitled to some left seats at Republic or is that only if Republic is flying for U?

[I just thought it would be fun to have U pilots it the left seat and DL pilots in the right seat. Talk about a culture clash..........]

Do you have any kind of mins for the left seat or will those 170's be flown by 1500 hr PIC's with one year in the business?

071qhc,

I started this thread pal, and it was not to bash you, jeesh! I had heard that you fly both for the same rate and wanted to know if it was to get scope or because the skywest guys did it and you felt you had to follow suit. I have consistently defended you guys because I remember when Comair wanted to make a seperate airline out of the MCO operation. We took it in the shorts in that contract to keep every one on the same list. I did not bash your airline, but you get the one finger salute for your comments about me. The rest of you CHQ guys, my apologies for thinking the rates were the same. I will continue to wellcome you to my cockpit any time. Tell that guy to get some blood pressure meds, pronto.

This thread was started and responded to by those who are obviously IGNORANT of our (CHQ) contract and who wanted to CONTINUE to badmouth us. While not a giant raise, the 70 seat E-170 rates are 5% higher than the 50 seat E-145 rates. We DID NOT like Skywest, (who NEVER seems to get bashed, like CHQ on this crazy message board) agree to fly 70 seaters for the same rate as 50 seaters, no matter how short the term. We, when faced with the threat of an ALTER-EGO carrier took a 3-YEAR contract to get ALL the flying on CHQ'S seniority list and live to fight another day...with a pay raise. Basically what it boils down to is that none of you seem to realize how INSIGNIFICANT and TINY, Chautauqua was just 5 years ago. This company stayed the same size or shrunk over it's first 25 years of existence since getting established as Allegheny Commuter back in 1974 in CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY, NY. We almost went out of business multiple times in the 1990's until Wexford Capital bought us and brought in the current management team. WAS COMAIR OR ASA BASHING US THEN...NO!!! No one would ever mention us in the same breath with Comair or ASA, Skywest, or X-jet, etc because we had barely over 200 pilots (when I got hired) and about 25 Saabs and Jetstreams. Comair, ASA, etc did'nt give a flying F#*K about us then, but now, after their beloved capitalism reared its' ugly head and DELTA gave us THEIR (NOT COMAIR's) precious Orlando hub...all of a sudden, we must give up our first born!!! They say we are the worst thing to hit aviation since People Express...which many of our critics wouldn't know the first thing about! All I have to say is...ANYONE at Comair who thinks they would have gotten the contract they got had their 89 day strike (which they never fail to tell EVERYONE about) been settled AFTER 9/11, is living in the past. HERE ARE THE FACTS...what we are now seeing in the whole aviation industry is the LAST ACT OF DEREGULATION, which was meant to give AIRLINE TICKET PRICING POWER to the CONSUMER! The internet assures us that consumers through LOWESTFARE.COM, CHEAPTICKETS.COM, EXPEDIA.COM, TRAVELOCITY.COM, etc, and the example of WALMART, and DELL will NEVER go back to paying what they were for airfares back in the old days (especially under the C.A.B. which many of you COMAIR and ASA HAWKS don't even know what that means!) Furthermore the Embraer 170 (and Embraer 190 which we will soon be operating, when it gets certified in August 2005), are the right aircraft at the right time ( the CRJ-700/900 CAN'T GET CLOSE) and being the ONLY independent operator of these aircraft, we will be able to dominate the 70 to 100 seat market unchallenged. And you guys at ASA and ESPECIALLY COMAIR can keep on playing the same "race to the bottom" song, much like the band on the Titanic did, while YOUR ship sinks around you!!! Keep calling us names and calling us whores, etc, while other carriers such as Trans-States, and Pinnacle, and Mesa, and PSA, etc get the same pay or less than we do for our 50 and 70 seat aircraft! Keep "holding the line" and "getting out of aviation" while everything changes around you! Keep flying your cramped, skinny, rollaboard gate checking 70 seat CRJ's around, keep calling us names...Just keep talking!!! Just keep talking!! Just Keep Talking! Or MAYBE you will stop and realize that the ONLY reason you talk about US so much and not the numerous other similar or LESSOR compensated carriers is that you are not as patriotic as you thought you were! You don't really believe in free market economics and capitalism! You only like that stuff when YOU come out on top! Well, get used to it either GET OUT OF AVIATION!, or realize the CONSUMER/PASSENGER is going to dictate from now on what you get paid and NOT THE UNION!...Just Keep Talking...and watch as the aviation world changes around you!

One word........PARAGRAPHS!!!!!!

Why did ya have to quote the whole f*cking post from 071qhc? Ur wasting precious pixels on my screen that I could use to bash ASA and CornAir.
Oh well, too late now...

I think there was some confusion on 70 and 90 seat rates:

FO: All same rates
Captain: Increase in pay with increase in seats

The left seat in the 170 isn't part of any J4J agreement; every Captain on that airplane is transitioning from the left seat on the 145. So far, even the 145 upgraders (like myself) have at least the massive total of 20-22 months with the company; company mins. to upgrade on either aircraft are 2500 TT. Although our contract allows 145 FOs to transition to 170 Captain due to limitations with the simulator the Company and FAA are not currently allowing it. (Probably not a bad idea). AFAIK the deal involving DALPA is for pref. hiring to the bottom of the list; not necessarily into the right seat of the 170.
