I start May 16 and got the 145, a friend of mine started indoc last week for the 145. He said 3 days into they came in and said they need 9 people to switch to the CRJ class and it went by seniority. Is this an isolated incident or has anyone heard of this happening in every class? Also why don't they just put people in the CRJ class instead of pulling them out of the ERJ class...WTFO

it wasnt 9 it was 8. But yeah the HR lady came right in and said they were switching 8 from the ERJ to the CRJ, they took volunteers, and only 1 spoke up, and then they went in reverse seniority and put 7 145 guys into the CRJ, myself and one other guy on the 145 stayed in the 145 because we were already typed on the airplane. It was kind of a shady move, but its all due to sim time i believe. We are all getting sent to Houston for ground school and sim. But I agree, dont offer someone a class date for one airplane, have them show up and then switch them. They should have given people the opportunity to take a later class date if they really wanted the 145.

No Sh!t, and btw doesn't that void the contract? since it is a/c specific??

I'd be absolutely pissed if I wanted the 145 for a specific domicile, HR knew it and had put me into a 145 class based upon that desire, and then it was taken away from me.

yeah i was furious, because I was the 4th most junior person in the class and I thought I was going to get switched. They came in and told us that they were going to switch, told us to think about it over lunch, and then they took our pictures for our IDS and cass. So My picture is horrible, i have this very angry disgruntled "why the F did i take this job" face.

Wow, so you say the company does not honor the contract, is dishonorable with new hires, and is struggling to survive its massive growth. Oh wait, I get to fly a shiny jet. Never mind, treat me like a Biatch.

well for me its not really about flying a shiny jet. i was already tricked into that. For me it "was" about getting on at a decent regional with a crew base in my hometown.

Thats my worry.....I want ind

the other bases are SDF, and Corpus Christi, the SDF is primarily a maintenance base and every flight that leaves SDF goes to IAH. Corpus Christi is apparently opening in april or may, it was supposed to open up in march but they were unable to adequately staff it to start operations. heard that directly from crew planning today!

so basically anyone getting the CRJ will be CRP based?

not exactly, it depends on specific needs when new hires are in training. it all depends, if the CRP base opens and they fill it with people from IAH and SDF, then new hires would be dispersed amongst SDF and IAH. But with the CRJ program beeing so new, as the bases grow you can get any of these three bases in a "relatively" short amount of time.

I have this feeling that I am gonna get stuck with the CRJ if they pull that crap in my class...I am young, so which base is junior sdf or iah?

well we looked at the bases today in class and its about even they have only had 3 crj classes(i think) and they divy them up between IAH and SDF. now keep in mind SDF only has about 10 lines and IAH has at least 3 times that. You will find that with new Crew bases. They cant just get crews, hire a flight manager and build 50 lines worth of flying over night. It will take a while, the CRJ program is brand new here and it will take a while to grow, they have to get the planes and the crews. You cant just pull crews and airplanes out of thin air. Thats part of the growth problems. Dont let it discourage you though. RAH is one of the best regionals to be at. if you get the CRJ or 145, which you most likely will. You will be able to hold just about any base you want in a few months, with the exception of LGA, the most junior FO there is a 5/2006 hire. And your only seat locked till upgrade. So if your cool with IAH, SDF, CRP, CMH, IND, STL, GSO, BUF. Then your all set. Dont let the QOL of life at an airline for the first year or so dictate decions, yeah it would be nice to get exactly what you want right out of the gate but it just doesnt work that way. Look mid term in making moves, and with republic you can get what you want in a short amount of time due to crazy growth and attrition. just my 2 cents.

yea, but I don't care if I get the CRJ, I am slated for an ERJ class. I am just wondering because I wanna be able to stay somewhat close to home...If I get the CRJ indy is out of the question, but I hope to get SDF
