44 aircraft placed in 7 months (jan07 to july07) - thats alot to bring on. Bet some have to come from the current fleet (U/UAL/DAL/AA) unless BB contracts or buys another carrier to do it.

The word I hear floating around here is he will take 15 or so 145s from the U flying for the CAL stuff. Some are saying the aircraft taken from U on the 145 side will be replaced with more 170's for u flying. Guess we will see.

20 145's have been found. The other 24 must still be found. Possibly within the current fleet as other carriers swap out for the 170's. Another possiblity is CRJ's, but that is not as attractive as operating a single type fleet. This was in BB's latest memo.

i hear u guys at ********************aqua do paper W & B, why dont u use acars?

Yeah, because at XJT we are so much more advanced. Like the ATOG books we have to dig out of whatever corner the last guy left them in and then feel the nice damp coffee stain that always seems to find it's way to the page we need.

Alot of other airlines just put the perf numbers on the bottom of the release. I can't believe that for everything we have at XJT the company still spends money on those things.

Well they're working on eliminating that. How much of your time does that take up, 20 seconds? How much of a financial gain do we get by putting that info on the release? My guess is that it's somewhat insignificant. The plan has always been to use the acars to get the actual perf data. But it has to be financially viable. How does it come on the release at other airlines? Do they give you a chart with all the possible runways and forecast temps?

I guess you have never jumpseated on, oh, I don't know, lets just take a stab at one of the many other airlines that do it, like CAL, AWAC, ect.

Yes, everything is on the release. Along with the accel heights, any special DP, landing distances, and whatever else you might think of. Sorry, but digging that book out of the slot on the FO's side is a pain in the a$$ whenever there is a change of Runway ect,. I'd just assume have it on one piece of paper right in front of me and not have to rearrange the enitre side of the cockpit to pull the book out. Much less deal with the wet pages from the doosh bag ahead of me that spilled his coffee on it.

I wonder if they'll lower their mins soon.

No. New Insurance company was brought on board about 3 months ago. 1500TT is firm. The multi time must be at least 200.
I wish they could go less it would help a lot of us get our friends on board.
