Comes down to the old addage - Your reputation might be molded by your actions when others are looking - your character is built by your actions when you know no one is looking.

I've flown that way since I was 17 - and through 20 years in the AF - not that I havn't had a blast every single minute - but most of the time within the regs - it's what is supposed to make us professionals for Christ sake - Having just joined the ranks of the RepShutQua - if I was in a position where I could do something - which I'm not - I'd shove the tape up his ass right before kicking it out the door with that 800 number for the truck driving school. People sometimes don't get that it might seem this type of thing is no big deal - but it is - and it's a reflection on all of us - Asswipes.

Agreed. I'm at Republic also and BTW- I have NEVER NEVER NEVER ever seen anyone (on the Republic cert anyways) with a backpack or an IPOD on duty. Heck, I havent even seen frosted hair. But, I DO have Bose headset... I bought those suckers while flying freight and also in an Aero Commander, why not still use them.

why the porn music?

Because for today's young regional pilots, flying an RJ is a form of pornography.

Are those RJ's so loud that you need to wear the Cessna David Clarks? That's what the captain in the video was wearing, or was he just instructing in his Cherokee last week?

I still use my D.C. 13.4s that I bought in 1991. They are comfortable and still work great. . The vast majority of our pilots that have been at AWAC for 20+ years fly with David Clarks as well. Welcome to the old school. I never understood why people immediately buy the lingerie of headsets the first time they fly a jet. The RJ will cause hearing damage without ear protection. Many people wear ear plugs underneath the lightweight headsets for that reason.

The David Clarks are the company provided headsets that stay in the plane. So if you don't want to buy/bring your own you just use what's in the plane. And yes, the 145s are fairly noisy up front. The 170 is a little quieter and up higher (30,000+) you can take off the headsets and just use speakers and the hand mic quite comfortably. But upper 20s on down, use the headset.
