When you're sitting across the table in a conference room from two FAA inspectors because of an event that occurred because of a radio transmission and they make sure to mention your callsign is "Airline 123", not "123"... you kind of start to realize that its more important to sound like a professional than it is to sound laid back and cool and not use your full callsign.

True story... its still on my friend's record. So stop sounding like idiots on the radio.
 
Why is it that you guys never use your full call sign?
Are you embarrassed to say "Chautauqua" or what?

I've never once heard any alteration.

Sooo. you heard it once, thus it happens all the time? Thats smart.

Can't wrap your little brain around the concept that every regional, including the exalted ones at expressjet, replaces flying that could be on a mainline certificate? I'm not surprised after reading some of your other posts.

Captain Obvious, did you just now put that together? I thought that is what has been going on for years. You must be smarter then we think.
 
On a daily basis, I have heard many 2 syllable derivatives, such as:

"Shockwa"
"Tockwa"

But rarely will hear the full name, which I think has 4 syllables. That is too long for a callsign, so I understand shortening it.
