I'm off to Baijing Shangahi. Looking for all the hot spots. Where should we stay.

Thanks

Grand Hyatt Beijing is where we stayed and it was awesome. Go to the great wall, tiananmen square and flea market. enjoy- it was fun.

in Shanghai - the JW Marriott @ Tomorrow Square. Great location downtown, about 30- 40 minutes from ZSPD. Rooms are all at the top of the building. The lobby is at the 36th floor (I think that is the right floor). From your room you will get a great view of the official bird of Shanghai - the Crane (the construction type). It is one of the most modern cities you will see. Every new building is trying to outdo the other with their design.

Go down Nan jing road for good shopping and restaurants.(it is just a couple of blocks from the hotel) You will pass the one and only Taco Bell Grande in China on your walk from the hotel.
The Hyatt in Shanghai is supposed to be one of the best in the city, but it is across the river and away from downtown attractions, but their is a good area close by the Hyatt that has some great food.

St. Regis in Beijing is hard to beat!

St Regis Shanghai is also nice.
Grand Hyatt Shaghai is about as good as it gets. Exec levels (floor 78/9) are some of the nicest rooms I have had!
Shangri-La Shanghai also very nice, river view rooms are nice!
Grand Hyatt Beijing also very good. Great pool!

If doing the Great Wall thing, maybe skip the tour bus deals from the hotel. Yes they do the wall but then they tend to take you to thier friends markets and push junk on you....just have the hotel get you car service to the wall and back. Much better IMHO.

Have fun! very friendly people, eager to please.

Does anybody have any info on the Hilton in Shanghai. I will be there in August for the china airshow.

Also we are visiting Guangzhou after the show for a few days. I have booked the Marriott.

I always use the St. Regis, although I hear that the China World is open again. I was nice before the remodel.

I agree get a car to take you to the wall, it's a lot better then one of those busses.

I've stayed at the Hilton before... nice place. It's 45 minutes to an hour from Pudong in the French Concession. Nice penthouse bar, lots of restaurants/bars nearby and shopping/markets. UPS, FedEx crews stay there. Lufthansa too. It's been awhile since I've been there but you might ask one of the UPS or FedEx guys for more up-to-date info. Can't help ya with Guangzhou... sorry.
