Chicago Mayor jealous of DC and NYC throws a hissy fit to get his own TFR. Even when there is not credible threat to the city.

Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley had been demanding that Chicago get the "the same thing as Mickey and Minnie." He then went on to say "New York City, and Washington DC, got huge TFRs, were on important city too, we need a TFR." The AOPA spokesman slowly backed out of the office as Mayor Daley got on the floor and started kicking his feet crying.

Some of this a joke, most of it is real.

Daley only keeps talking about this to try to imply a threat from Meigs field, thereby helping him close it... something he has been trying to do for a decade.

The TFR is still pointless, even the slowest aircraft could transit it in 5 minutes, it would take that long at least to get the fighters off the ground.

The problem is that TFRs like this become more often and slowly creeping outward, with no credible threat justifying it.
