Just read a message from Jim Parker saying Cheever was stepping down and becoming Parker's asst. for "special projects"...My understanding was that he wanted to see the contract through.
Any thoughts on what this means?...

Don't know what the "special projects" means. However he told us last month that June 1st was his last day and that he was looking forward to taking it easy.

"Captain" Cheever

Cheever turned 60 last July so he's hardly a Captain. Poor JL didn't get picked. Probably because he's an ALPA member. D-OH!

Replacement

Yeah, but is PC an improvement? The details are very hazy, but I heard stories of him bragging about buying a Corvette with draft pay when the rest of the pilot force refused to pick it up.

How about his part in the last contract? That sounded pretty dubious...

YGBSM Only in ALPA eyes would one that has reached the age of 60, having been a Captain may years not be called a Captain. Has Captain Duane Woerth ever actually been a Captain of anything? I know for sure that the previous ALPA President, Captain Randy Babbitt was never ever a Captain, never had one hour of Captain time in anything bigger than a PA-23, more probably a C150. That is the civil version, not military. :)

From all I've seen (not much) and heard (a ton), JL has been a good CP. Is that a false assessment?

I've always found his emails to be pretty entertaining:laugh:

"He was a cruel man. But fair" - M. Python. Actually, I had lunch with him once in the cafeteria. Great guy, but I was flashing back to "meet the dad" scenes in my high school dating years....

I got a little quality time in Jan 05 when called in to discuss what Emerald Coast Interview Consutling was (and wasn't...) I found him fair, reasonable, and willing to listen to my side of the story. Punchline is I continued to provide my service without interference from CP. I also have enjoyed his emails.

I have no informed opinion as to how he plays into contract issues. My goal was to never have to go find out where the CP's office is...and I already missed that goal. My next goal is to never have to go there again...
