You will be fine. No-one is perfect.

As long as you learn something from the experience and convey that to the interviewers when they ask about it.

Don't blame it on bad-luck, the examiner, or anything else. Take responsibility, learn soemthing from it, and tell that to the interviewer.

won't matter at all, you can relax and have a beer, I know people that got 2 or 3 and got hired no problem.

you're screwed. This happened to my friend, he is flipping burgers for now while trying to get an airline job. Good luck. O yeah, by the way.. JUST KIDDING. No one will care!

Thanks guys and I've already got those beers behind me. I was just worried about having something else to explain (defend) myself on during my first interview, but now after the advice I can plan for it.

How do the airlines feel about busting checkrides? Just went for my CFII and got the pink slip.

It's really not a big deal. At the 4 job interviews I've been to it went something like this;

Interviewer: You ever fail a checkride?
Me: Yes (frown on my face)
Int: Which one?
Me: Intitial CFI
Int: Why?
Me: I wasn't as prepared as I thought, and the examiner found a gap in my knowledge. I went home, studied up, and came back a week later and passed it.

End of story.

Busted my CFII ride too. On my interview they asked me about busted checkrides. I told them my fault and what I learned from it. They then handed me the keys to the company. I'm now the CEO. Just tell them you messed up, it was your fault and it was an experience builder!!!

Some of my best students are the ones that busted checkrides.

Carry on and don't think twice about it.

Your life is ruined.

Just give up now.

Actually I failed one and it hasn't seemed to hurt, it's all in how you deal with it, and your success rate since then. You'll have plenty more checkrides to pass.
