I received a newsletter in the mail today from my bank outlining the facts about the Check 21 Act. Said it was being implemented this month and the bank will no longer "process" paper checks. All done electronically.

Any aviators affected by CHECK 21 yet?

This has been coming for a while. I wouldn't care except for one aspect: what becomes of the cancelled check as proof of payment in matters with the IRS or other tax thieves ?

from what i've heard, some of the smaller check runners may go under in a few years when more banks go electronic, but places like Airnet, etc are diversifying their business so much that checks are now just a small part of their cargo, so they should be fine.

I'm not sure if it will be in next thrusdays USA Today paper, or shortly thereafter, but they will be doing an article about Check 21. So for all you pilots that get the USA Today next to your hotel door, keep an eye out for it.
