hey. just had a question about charters hiring fo or even pic's. just wondering what the general minimums are. i see all these guys buzzing around in navajos and twin cessnas. do they usually have many more hours than me? i know i'm at the bottom of the barrel, but do most charter companies hire with 1200tt for pic? just wondering. thanks a lot.

Yeah i think you have to have atleast 1200 hours just to act as pic in multi-engine aircraft for 135 charter.

yeah. i know 135 mins. just wondering if charter companies hire with mins for pic. or would they maybe up their mins to an atp? thanks for the response, but not really what i was looking for.

I think most companies hire by

1) Insurance mins or accreditation mins (air ambulance is usually 2000 tt at least)

2) Market of pilots. If the market is full of pilots they usually will hire a higher time guy but this is not always true!! Some companies like the low time pilots bc they can train them the way they want. They also think they might stay around longer.

I have known of a couple that will let you fly along with them to get to the 1200TT minimums before they hire you, but have not heard of hiring below the minimums lately.
