Another thread on General Board as well...

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Winds gusting as high as 50 miles per hour damaged a school, felled trees and knocked out power to thousands of homes across the state Wednesday and may have been a factor in an aircraft accident at Teterboro Airport, authorities said.

Gulfstream IV twin engine jet carrying two crew and seven passengers slid off the end of the runway as it was landing at Teterboro in blustery conditions shortly after 4:30 p.m. No injuries were reported.

The plane hit some trees at the end of Runway 24, but did not catch fire, said Jim Peters, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration.

The extent of damage, the origin of the flight, and the operator were not immediately known, authorities said.

Not a good week for corporate aviation...
There's a big difference between corporate and charter, statistically speaking. Still a sad week for aviation.

sounds like one of the people i fly with. when it's gusty, they add about 10 knots ON TOP of the afm recommended hi-wind ref speed...

anyway, sucks to be the airplane, but i'm glad to hear no one was seriously injured. that could have been REAL disaster. i assume they landed on rwy 24...imagine the mess if they had landed on rwy 1 or 6.

Yeah I flew over just as it was happening. The captain saw it all from the left side on the approach into EWR. G V (from what I was told from source in TEB). From what the captain told me, looked like at last half of the runway the aircraft started skidding sideways, accompanied by smoke. At the very end of the runway, he described the aircraft skidded all the way around, about 180 degrees, into the grass, and he said he saw lots of smoke and could see some flames.

We were actually headed to TEB and changed our destination to EWR 5 min. earlier.

ATIS that I had at the time of the accident was wind 290 @ 26 gust to 39. Aircraft were shooting the ILS to 19 and circling to runway 24.

I hope it was just some blown tires and everyone evacuated safley.

I did not personally see, and this is just the captains description.
