Just saw this on the evening news.
A charter flight carrying troops from the middle east and bound for Newark buzzed the SoL today. Supposedly circled the lady three times, proceded up the east river and landed uneventfully.
According to the talking heads, this was an approved request from the "FAA" (I'm assumming TRACON) which prompted "hundreds of 911 calls". Newsies said that the FAA will not be approving any future similar requests.
