An important factor...
CG Air Stations tend to be in high cost of living areas. Therefore the cost of housing is a major factor that you should be considering if you have a family and your wife doesn't have a lucrative job.
Personally I always tried to go for the sticks & stay away from San Fran, et.al. Another alternative is to go someplace with base housing, such as my all time favorite, and the best AirSta in the Guard, which is Kodiak...but I gather this isn't one of the options the detailer's given you (it's nothing personal, they just don't usually send first-tour DCAs up there, but you might broach the subject to the detailer...you being ex-Navy cuts more ice with them than DCAs from other services).
Now that I've brought this up, the guys with more current information than I have can address it.
You guys with the current info, let's hear the latest concerning housing assistance, CG leased housing, etc.
