ELITE Simulation Solutions is proud to announce the recent approval of the first Personal Computer Aviation Training Device (PCATD) to be granted additional flying credit under a new category of aviation training device called "Advanced PCATD." The FAA evaluated the ELITE iGATER Model G500 and subsequently authorized it for use under Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) parts 61 and 141.

The 'Advanced' status was conferred because the device exceeded the standard design criteria of typical PCATDs. Enhancements such as life-sized instruments, an external visual system and improved ergonomics combine to create a superior interface between pilot and cockpit. According to President and CEO, John Dixon, "The 'Advanced PCATD' status is a major milestone for the training industry and is congruent with our corporate philosophy of providing high tech / low cost simulation solutions. ELITE now offers a flight simulation device that not only can be used for every phase of flight training, including Private Pilot, but also allows for meeting the FAA requirements for recency of instrument experience. The 'Advanced PCATD' approval in the U.S. complements our existing FNPT I and FNPT II status in Europe." The following is a complete list of authorized tasks, maneuvers and procedures the iGATER G500 Advanced PCATD can be used to perform:

1) Logged Flight Experience - 61.51(b)(3)

2) Logging Instrument Flight Time - 61.51(g)(4)

3) Instrument Experience - 61.57(c)(1)

4) Instrument Proficiency Check - 61.57(d)(1)(ii)

5) Instrument Rating: Practical Test - 61.65(a)(8)

6) Instrument Rating: maximum 20 hours - 61.65(e)(2)

7) Private Pilot Certificate: maximum 2.5 hours - 61.109(i)(1)

8) Commercial Certificate: maximum 50 hours - 61.129(i)(1)

9) Airline Transport Pilot Certificate: maximum 25 hours - 61.159(a)(3)(i)

10) Approved For Use as Limited by Part 141 Appendices - 141.41(b)

The iGATER Model G500 Advanced PCATD, manufactured by ELITE Simulation Solutions, Orlando, Florida, is a convertible SEL/MEL trainer that is available with single or dual controls, desktop configuration or in a full cockpit enclosure. The iGATER will accommodate visual systems with one to six channels for a full 180 degree field of view.
