Hi just wondering if you can enlighten me on what it takes to get your CFI as in minimum requirements? (hours, reading, ground school, $$,etc). Also how does one go about marketing themselves as a freelance instructor? and what kind of people hire a freelance instructor (people getting recurrency??). Oh yea and one more thing...where does a freelance instructor get the aircraft to do the training on? rent from a FBO? Thanks in advance for all your help...

Minimum Requirements:
1. Commercial license, category and class with instrument rating.

2. Pass appropriate written(s).

3. Pass checkride.

Marketing:
People buy on a need. Why do they need to hire you? Convince them of that and you'll have lots of customers.

Kind of people:
Usually aircraft owners. Perhaps a flight school that allows "independent contractor" flight instructors.

Where to get a plane:
If you have one, you can use it but remember now it has to have the 100 hour inspection. Sometimes the flight school that allows the independent contractors will let you use their plane(s). Typically though, it's the aircraft owners (in my experience anyway).

Hope that helped.
