Wondering if anybody has an opinion on what renewal program to do. I have heard some are easier (faster) than others, anybody have an opinion?

Thanks

chi renewal

I've done the Gliem online renewal. $100. It was 16 lessons, and I got it done in a few evenings in front of the computer. Boring and tedious, but it got the job done!

I've heard the Jeppeson has a decent online renewal.

Why don't you just go to FSDO with your records and renew on the basis of activity? Free of charge, except for gas money, and no class to attend.

How to present records to FSDO?

What's the best way to lay this out for the FSDO? I don't have copies of every 8710 I ever submitted with an outcome.

Should a sheet listing name/certif#/date/outcome be sufficient for the FSDO to renew?

I've got >80% and enough dual etc.

CFI renewal records

All I ever did was, per the FARs, was keep a record of the students I sent up for practicals and the results of their tests in the back of my logbooks. Most of mine were 141 self-examining stage checks, but I tracked them just the same as if they were regular Part 61 flight tests.

I brought my logbooks and a typed 8710 to the FSDO, stated to the person at the counter that I wanted to renew based on activity, and walked out with a fresh temporary. For the most part, just as easy as that.

Perhaps I should qualify what I just wrote by saying that was my experience at the SDL FSDO eleven years ago. FSDOs may be more anal now.

CFI refresher

Just finished the Gleim FIRC and thought it was pretty good. I think it was much more informative not to mention cheaper than those yawner weekend slide show courses. Plus I was able to work on it as my schedule would permit. Best of luck.
