I was wondering if anyone knows what you need to have in order to sign someone off for an ATP and type rating.
If I have a CFI and Citation type can I endorse someone for their ATP and type?
Do you have to have an MEI?
Where in the regs can I find out more?

No endorsements required for just an ATP checkride or written.

For the type rating I believe the wording says "authorized instructor" which I take to mean category, class and type. So if it's a CE550 type/atp combo ride, the CFI needs to be MEI and CE550 typed to give instruction.

Hope that helps.

FAR's, Mini - you're just passing on verbal knowledge (from memory, and we all know what that does), give him the FAR reference.
61.63 Type ratings. (d)(3)&(4) require endorsements for a type rating.
For all initial certification tests (pvt, commercial, ATP, etc.) you will see the requirement for an endorsement under the Eligibility part, ie. 61.103 for Private, (d) requires an endorsement. Under ATP Eligibility 61.153, there is no requirement for an endorsement.

Why do the work when someone else will :p

However, you just confused the hell out of me.

I said "no endorsement" for just the ATP checkride. IOW...going for your ATP in a Seneca? Go for it!

For the type rating you need the endorsement from an "authorized instructor".

Was I wrong somewhere? I know for private and commercial you need an endorsement, but I can't find endorsement anywhere under ATP (until you get to type ratings).

That's what confused me....the bold part.

Moving on...
