I am trying to get some information on the differences in the PTS. I have not obtained a copy yet, but will soon. Is there any information on the steep spiral, such as how to teach, and the 180 turn for emergency landing? Any info is appreciated.

You can access any PTS on the FAA's website, faa.gov.

The 180 degree approach is an accuracy approach, not an emergency manuever.

The old standby AC-61-21 and whatever it is now (Flight Training/Airplane Flying Handbook) explains the spiral descent manuever, with just about every other manuever anyone has ever conceived of.
