how much are you freelance guys/gals paying for coverage per year? how good is the coverage?

thanks

dude, best question i've seen in a while! I'm very, very curious also, as my employer just dropped out coverage. I talked to the peeps at AOPA, and it looks as if i can pick up coverage for around 400 a year with no deductible. What have you heard? The quote through AOPA is through AVEMCO i believe.

i've actually never gotten a quote, but i'm starting to think about it since the boss doesnt think its a good management decision to raise my pay to the going rate at the airport (i'm getting 20% less). so much for making a professional raise for being at work 70 or 80 hrs a week:rolleyes:

i might have to check that out. i'm covered by my employer, but i could probably charge twice what i actually am making and make a bit more money covering myself.

$650 per year for $1 mil total, $100,000 each passenger. No deductable. Every place I looked had the same premium, Falcon had the best coverage.

$275.00 per year w/ Avemco...................But no Multi- Instruction coverage

I have avemco through AOPA. Even if your employer covers you, I would recommend getting this in case you are flying on your own. It covers CFIs for renting airplanes as well as flight instructing.

Premium, of course, varies with coverage. Not much difference between the three primary agencies, AOPAOA, AVEMCO (direct) and Falcon Insurance, which works on the NAFI policy.

I chose the amount of coverage that fits my own notions of acceptable risk.

275 seems pretty cheap, 650 doesnt sound bad. now why is the boss saying stuff like we wouldnt make enough money (off of me) if i got a raise? making 10 off me an hour would pay that off pretty darn quick! oh well, it looks like i'm moving up to something with fortysome more seats soon :D its been a great experience, but i'm movin up!
