I'm looking for one that would be willing to teach sport pilot rating to a deaf person (namely, me) so I can at least discuss what is needed in terms of the training aspect itself. I already know that a drivers license is needed, and a medical certificate may also be accepted although it is not needed if you do have a drivers license.

I'm located in Jacksonville IL (KIJX), and have not really had much luck finding any CFIs. While having a CFI that signs is great, it is not necessary, as I can communicate pretty well with voice.

Also, how much does it cost to fly sport plane, using motor gas? Are there diesel engines available for sport planes?
