Dose anybody have any information regarding the proposed Twin Cessna 402 Wing Spar AD's. Which airplanes are going to be affected?

It's proposed for those planes with more than 8,000 hrs on the airframe. I assume it is for at least most of the 400 series, because our C401 would be effected by it along with the C402. Since the 300 series is virtually the same airframe, I wouldn't doubt that those would be effected also...

No solid sources on this one, but I'm told from a guy who sounded 100% sure that its for >8,000+ 402's and 401's (at least).

I'm pretty sure thats what happened to a 402 for Texstar a couple years ago. Wing spar came apart in flight. 1 Fatality.

CHECK YOUR WING SPARS!!!!!!

Check your wing spars? Dude, what happened to my friend that morning in OKC was nothing he could have checked or inspected.

Get real.

328,

I meant it as a general warning because I heard what happened. I know you cant check the wing spars before every flight. I was just trying to let the original poster understand the importance of this AD.

I certainly didn't mean any disrespect. I also had a good friend die in a crash last December. By the way they found the wreckage, it's obvious that the plane came apart in midair. There was nothing he could do about it either. Maybe it was a wing spar too. They still don't know.

Peace,

Jeff

Right now it is a SB but will most likely become an AD. It affects the 401, 402, 411, and 414A (not sure about the 421). To comply it is about a $45K fix to install the spar strap and about a month of down time. Talk the guys at the "Twin Cessna Flyer" http://www.twincessna.org They can tell you all about it. Each model has it's own time limit on the spar.

that spar strap is going to be a 50K mod. it has about 500 hours plus the cost of the kit and downtime. Jesus
