A few weeks ago I sent in that form to request the FAA to change your certificate number from your social security number to a randomly selected number. I got my new commercial pilots license with the random number, but I didn't get one for my instructor license. Will it come later, or do I have to send in another form specifically asking for a new number on my CFI as well? I was under the impression that all certificates would be assigned new numbers by sending in that form. Can anyone help me???

Thanks

I got both of mine at the same time. You may want to call someone and ask about it.

Thank you everyone for the prompt replies! Does anyone happen to have a phone number where I could inquire about this? I don't think there was one on the form I sent in, but I guess I could send a letter to the same address. My next guess would be to look into the FARs to get a number in OK City.

:D I bet you are one of them troublemakers the TSA just adopted new regulations about! :D

This information is posted near the bottom of the Airman Registry web page:

Civil Aviation Registry
PO BOX 25082
Oklahoma City, OK 73125-0082

Employee Locator: 202-366-4000

Just to update everyone that is interested. I just recieved my new CFI license in the mail about 2 1/2 weeks after recieving my new commercial license. If anyone else has submitted a request for a change of certificate number, just know that you may not get all your certificates with the new number at the same time.

I added a MEI to an existing CFII ASE on Jan 8th. I received two new certificates (with new numbers) in the same envelope yesterday with a letter stating the following:

"The Airmen Certification Branch is now issuing all NEW airmen certificates with unique certificate numbers. We will not use your Social Security Number (SSN) for a certificate number.

If you hold a pilot certificate that uses your SSN as your certificate number, and you obtain a flight instructor certificate, we will change your certificate number and issue you a new pilot certificate as well as your flight instructor certificate.

Airmen certificates using the SSN as a certificate number will continue to be issued with that number unless you request that a unique number be assigned.

If you would like to change your certificate number to a unique number, you can print a form for that purplse from our web site at http://registry.faa.gov/docs/ssn_Change.pdf .

If you have any questions or require further assistance, please contact the Airmen Certification Branch at (405) 954-3261."

The instructor certificate was dated 8 Jan, & the commercial certificate was dated 24 Feb. Those dates (& yesterday) probably indicate the processing times.

Hope this helps.
