During the Continental strike of 1983, Petzinger's Hard Landing indicates that Frank Lorenzo called individual striking pilots at their homes and had lengthy, impassioned conversations with them to induce them to come fly the line.

Has this type of thing happened during any significant labor battle before or since? I don't believe it has, and I'm trying to make the point that Frankie was a uniquely charismatic bastard. Thought I'd consult the hive mind before I go off on a tangent.
